How to register for NMAT and book an exam slot
Registration and scheduling are separate steps. After completing registration and paying, use the candidate dashboard to book an available exam slot. GMAC says slots are limited and allocated first-come, first-served. Follow the official registration instructions.
- Visit mba.com/nmat and create an NMAT account with a valid email address.
- Complete the profile and application. Enter your name and date of birth exactly as they appear on your photo identification.
- Select the schools to receive your scores and upload a recent photograph as requested during registration.
- Pay the exam fee. The registration instructions say score sending to five schools is included; additional schools cost INR 400 plus applicable taxes each. The dates-and-fees page describes this as the charge for score reports beyond the first five.
- After payment, open the candidate dashboard and book an available date and centre.
- Download your admit card seven days before your scheduled exam. Bring or show it with the required identification, as explained in the admit-card instructions.
NMAT registration is not an MBA application
GMAC states on its Important Dates & Fees page: “Registering for the NMAT by GMAC exam is one part of the admission process.” You must apply separately to each B-school you want to attend. Schools set their own eligibility requirements, application deadlines and policies on accepting NMAT scores; registering for the exam does not guarantee that a particular program will accept your score.

GMAC describes NMAT as a computer-adaptive exam with no negative marking, equal section weightage, a choice of section order and an instant score preview. Candidates can take up to three attempts in a testing year, subject to the applicable rules and dates. Review GMAC’s NMAT overview for exam details.
GMAC’s official preparation page lists the NMAT Official Guide and two free online practice exams, as well as paid online practice exams 2 and 3. Check that any guide or practice material you use is current for your testing year.
