There is no single price for a Nintendo Switch 2 game. Nintendo’s U.S. examples range from $39.99 to $79.99, depending on the title, and Nintendo says retailers set their own prices. Two launch examples were $79.99 for Mario Kart World and $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza. Check the current listing for the game and format you want before budgeting for a purchase.
What do Switch 2 games cost?
Nintendo’s U.S. catalog lists games at several prices, rather than one standard price. These examples were listed in the catalog accessed in 2026; catalog prices can change.

Does physical or digital cost more?
For the two launch examples above, Nintendo listed the same MSRP for physical and digital versions. Its policy changed for new Nintendo-published digital games exclusive to Switch 2 beginning in May 2026: those digital titles have an MSRP different from their physical versions, starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. The policy describes MSRP, not a rule that every retailer must charge those prices. See Nintendo Support’s explanation of Switch 2 game pricing.

Nintendo says packaged and digital versions provide the same game experience. It attributes different MSRP to the costs of producing and distributing each format, while offering players more choice in how to buy and play.
Why can the checkout price differ from Nintendo’s price?
Nintendo says retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and prices vary by title. A listed MSRP is therefore a reference point—not a guarantee that a particular shop will match it. Before buying, compare:

- Blast off on a high-octane adventure to save a star system from invasion
- Tear through space, soar across planets, and shoot loads of foes out of the sky at every step of the way

- Enter first-person mode to experience the action from inside the cockpit, and even use mouse controls to fly
- Invite a second player* to join you as a gunner using Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls
- The exact game and edition: Confirm you are comparing the same title and any included content.
- The format: Check whether the listing is physical or digital, especially for newer Nintendo-published Switch 2 exclusives.
- The seller’s current price: Compare it with Nintendo’s listing, but treat both as subject to change.
- Sales or bundles: Check whether a lower apparent cost depends on a temporary offer or buying a system bundle.
For example, Nintendo announced a limited-time U.S. Choose Your Game Bundle for $499.99, including a system and a download code for one of three selected games. Nintendo described the bundle as offering value up to $29.99 compared with separate purchases; timing and availability varied by retailer. That figure describes the bundle’s stated value, not the standalone price of a game. See Nintendo’s bundle announcement.
How to budget for a game purchase
- Choose the specific title. Do not assume every Switch 2 release costs the same.
- Pick the format. Compare physical and digital listings where both are offered; for newly published Nintendo digital exclusives, the MSRP may differ from the physical version.
- Check the seller’s live listing. Nintendo says retailers set their own prices, and catalog listings can change.
- Separate the game from a bundle. A system bundle’s stated savings do not establish the game’s standalone price.
Does this answer apply outside the United States?
No. The prices here are U.S. dollar examples from Nintendo’s U.S. announcement and catalog. They do not establish prices, taxes, or retailer policies in other countries; check Nintendo’s local store and retailers in your region.
