Its store-availability page was last updated July 7, 2025, so it cannot establish current stock. Nintendo Canada lists the console as available now, but check GameStop’s live listing or contact a store before relying on its price, pickup options, or availability.
Are Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders currently open at GameStop Canada?
Current GameStop Canada pre-orders are not confirmed by the available retailer information. GameStop’s pre-order copy described limited-quantity, in-store pre-orders for the system’s 2025 launch and said a deposit was required. Nintendo announced that launch for June 5, 2025. Nintendo’s launch announcement and GameStop Canada’s pre-order page therefore describe a past launch period, not a verified current offer.

GameStop’s store availability page says its stock list was last updated July 7, 2025. It reported quantities at select stores at that time, but those figures are not a live inventory check. GameStop Canada’s store-availability page does not establish whether a console is available to order or pick up now.
How to check GameStop Canada before you buy
- Open GameStop Canada’s current Switch 2 product listing and check whether it identifies the item as available, sold out, or available for pre-order.
- Confirm the exact version: console-only or a bundle such as the Mario Kart World bundle. Check the listed price and whether it is Canadian dollars.
- Review the listing’s fulfillment details for delivery or store pickup, and check whether a deposit or other pre-order terms apply.
- If the listing is unclear, call the specific store and ask about its current quantity, price, and pickup arrangements. A dated availability page is not a substitute for confirmation.
These checks matter because neither a current GameStop price nor an open online pre-order is established by the available GameStop pages.

What Nintendo’s Canadian information confirms
Nintendo Canada currently labels the Switch 2 “Available now” on its product page. That indicates the console is on sale generally; it does not confirm GameStop’s inventory.
Nintendo of America and Nintendo Canada stated a Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price of CAD $679.99, effective September 1, 2026. Nintendo’s Canadian MSRP notice identifies the MSRP, not a guaranteed GameStop price. Retailer pricing and availability can differ.

The same product page describes a 1080p display, TV output up to 4K in supported games, and magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo says the system is compatible with some original Nintendo Switch games, while cautioning that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible. Check Nintendo’s compatibility information for a particular game before buying the console for it.
How much weight to give the launch figures
Nintendo reported more than 3.5 million Switch 2 units sold worldwide in the first four days after launch in June 2025. This is a historical global launch-period figure; it does not measure current demand or Canadian GameStop stock. Nintendo’s June 11, 2025 announcement quoted Nintendo of America President and COO Doug Bowser: “Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go.”

Quick Recap
- Current status: in stock, available for pre-order, or unavailable. Treat a dated stock page as historical.
- Fulfillment: delivery or store pickup, including any stated timing.
- Price: the retailer’s current price against Nintendo’s CAD $679.99 MSRP effective September 1, 2026. MSRP is a reference, not a promise that a particular seller charges that amount.
- Package: console-only or a bundle, and the items included. A bundle’s higher price may reflect included software or accessories rather than a different console.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
