The application deadline for Northeast Frontier Railway’s 5,647 Act Apprentice training slots was December 3, 2024. It has passed: applications for this recruitment are not open as of October 8, 2026. The 2024 notice concerned apprenticeship training, not a promise of permanent railway employment.
What the NFR recruitment notice offered
The Railway Recruitment Cell, Northeast Frontier Railway (RRC/NFR), invited online applications for 5,647 Act Apprentice training slots for 2023–24 and 2024–25 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The notice was a historical recruitment opportunity; it does not establish whether a later recruitment cycle is available.
The application window ran from November 4 through December 3, 2024. Candidates applied online through the NFR/RRC route. The notification said applicants did not need to send a physical copy and advised them to keep their registration number for later stages. RRC/NFR notification
How the 5,647 slots were distributed
The notification allocated slots across these railway units and workshops:
#1 Best Overall
| Unit or workshop | Slots |
|---|---|
| Katihar and Tindharia Workshop | 812 |
| Alipurduar | 413 |
| Rangiya | 435 |
| Lumding | 950 |
| Tinsukia | 580 |
| New Bongaigaon Workshop and Engineering Workshop | 982 |
| Dibrugarh Workshop | 814 |
| NFR Headquarters, Maligaon | 661 |
The unit figures total 5,647. The notice directed candidates to choose a unit with slots relevant to their ITI trade, so the largest unit allocation alone would not determine which option suited an applicant. RRC/NFR notification
Eligibility depended on the trade
The stated age range was 15–24 years as of December 3, 2024, with category-based relaxations set out in the official notice. The general qualification requirement included matriculation with at least 50% aggregate marks and an ITI certificate in the relevant trade. RRC/NFR notification
That general summary does not apply identically to every listed trade. Laboratory Technician (Pathology) and Laboratory Technician (Radiology) had distinct qualification and merit provisions. Candidates needed to check the notice’s trade-specific requirements rather than assume the general matriculation-plus-ITI rule covered those roles. RRC/NFR notification
Fee and selection process
The application fee was ₹100 and non-refundable; the notice listed exemptions for specified categories. Payment was made online. RRC/NFR notification

Selection was based on merit lists prepared by trade, unit and community. For most trades, the merit calculation used the average of matriculation and relevant ITI marks. The two laboratory technician categories followed separate merit criteria. Shortlisted candidates were required to complete document verification and provide the medical documentation specified in the notice. RRC/NFR notification
