The strongest documented estimate puts Newt Gingrich’s net worth at at least $6.7 million in 2010. The Los Angeles Times reported that figure in 2011 from financial disclosure forms. It is a historical, disclosure-based estimate—not a verified estimate of his wealth in 2026.

What was Newt Gingrich’s reported net worth?

The Los Angeles Times reported at least $6.7 million in net worth for 2010, along with at least $2.6 million in income that year. The figures came from financial disclosure forms and were published on July 25, 2011. Income is money received over a period; net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities. The two figures are not interchangeable.

Why the 2010 estimate is not an exact valuation

The same Los Angeles Times account described reported assets of $7.3 million to $30.7 million and liabilities of $565,000 to $1.15 million. The wide ranges reflect the disclosure format rather than a precise, audited balance sheet or a current market valuation.

A multimillion-dollar promissory note from the Gingrich Group, LLC, to Gingrich Productions, Inc., accounted for much of the reported assets. Because the disclosure included this intercompany note and used ranges, the reported lower-end estimate should be understood as a figure from that disclosure period, not as a verified present-day valuation.

How the 2006 disclosure compares

The Los Angeles Times reported that Gingrich’s 2006 disclosure showed net worth in a range of $873,000 to $2.4 million. Its 2010 account reported at least $6.7 million. These are disclosure-based estimates for different periods, not comparable audited valuations; the reported figures do not establish what caused the change or what his assets are worth now.

What the public record can—and cannot—establish for 2026

The public record cited here does not establish an exact Newt Gingrich net worth for 2026. The best-supported quantified figure is the historical 2010 estimate published in 2011. The U.S. Office of Government Ethics explains that presidential candidates’ public financial disclosure reports may be requested using OGE Form 201. Such reports disclose financial interests under applicable law; they are not independent audits or real-time valuations.

A Federal Election Commission matter document records that Gingrich filed a public financial disclosure report on July 14, 2011, covering assets beginning January 1, 2010. That filing helps identify the period behind the historical figures; it does not provide a current balance sheet.

Campaign money is not personal net worth

The FEC’s Newt Gingrich candidate overview reports that his Newt 2012 committee received $24,976,120.46 and spent $24,900,556.09 from April 1, 2011, through December 31, 2012. It had $75,564.37 cash on hand at the end of that period. Those are committee finances, not Gingrich’s personal assets or net worth.

Book royalties in the historical record

A 1989 Congressional Record account described the 1984 nonfiction book Window of Opportunity, written by Gingrich, his wife Marianne, and David Drake. It said the authors signed a contract to share a standard 10 percent hardcover royalty. The account also said each Gingrich reported at least $5,000 in royalties for 1987, the most recent year then available in the disclosure statement. This is historical publishing-income context, not evidence of current wealth.
