The program launched in 2023, then expanded: Newegg introduced CPU trade-ins in 2024 and has since added qualifying desktop memory. The current offer depends on the exact model, its inspection, and the live terms—not simply on owning a GPU.
How does Newegg GPU trade-in work?
The trade-in is tied to an eligible purchase on Newegg. You start on the page for the new product, enter details about the old hardware, review the estimate, and place the new item and trade-in in the same order. After checkout, Newegg provides a prepaid UPS label for shipping the old item. Newegg inspects it and, if approved, credits the associated order. Its current knowledge-base guide says approved trade-ins are generally refunded to the original payment method, although some refunds are issued as a Newegg Gift Card.
- Find an eligible new product. Open the product page and check for the trade-in module. Eligibility is tied to the product page and the specific model you plan to trade in.
- Enter the old hardware’s model and condition. Match the model number to the card or its original box; the model you enter must match the actual item.
- Review the estimate and terms. The displayed value is conditional, not a guaranteed payment.
- Add the new product and trade-in to the cart and complete checkout. The trade-in is associated with that Newegg order.
- Ship the old item using the prepaid UPS label. Newegg says to ship within 14 days of receiving the label.
- Wait for inspection and the credit decision. If approved, the credit follows Newegg’s stated processing timeline and refund method.
Which products can you trade in?
The current program lists eligible GPUs, CPUs, and desktop memory. The memory expansion covers qualifying DDR4 and DDR5 desktop kits. Although the original program focus was GPUs, today’s terms should not be confused with the initial launch: Newegg’s March 19, 2026 company release says the GPU program launched in 2023, the CPU program arrived in 2024, and desktop memory was added later. The release establishes the launch year, not the exact launch day or the original GPU offer terms. Newegg’s March 19, 2026 announcement describes the expansion as a way to apply trade-in value toward newer hardware.
How do I know if my item is eligible for trade-in?
Eligibility is model-specific. Check Newegg’s eligible-model list and the trade-in module on the exact new product page; the old GPU’s model number must match the device you send. Availability of a module, rather than the fact that a product is a GPU, is the practical check to make before ordering. Newegg’s current program page requires a Newegg account and a valid address in the contiguous United States; Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories are excluded.

Newegg also says GPU trade-in value can be applied toward gaming desktops or laptops when the new product page displays a trade-in module. CPU trade-ins are not currently accepted toward gaming PCs. These conditions concern the Newegg purchase flow; buying a GPU elsewhere does not qualify that purchase for Newegg trade-in credit.
How much will I get for my trade-in?
There is no single reliable GPU trade-in amount: Newegg says values vary by model, specifications, and market conditions. Check the live estimate for your specific hardware and eligible new product rather than relying on an old example or a quoted amount from a different model.

The estimate is subject to inspection. Newegg says it cannot confirm the value until it receives the item and may revise or cancel an offer if the displayed value is inaccurate. Compare the live offer with the likely net proceeds from another selling route, while accounting for the time and uncertainty of inspection. Newegg’s published terms do not establish that its offer is higher than private resale or another marketplace.
What does Newegg inspect?
Newegg’s listed checks include whether the item is the stated model, physical damage, dust or dirt, missing components, corrosion, the serial number, port and fan function, noise, operating temperature, and benchmark performance. A quote therefore does not establish that a particular card will pass or receive the estimated value.

Before shipping, confirm the model number, back up and remove personal data if applicable, and package the hardware securely. Send only the item described in the order: Newegg’s current terms describe exceptions involving counterfeit, undeliverable, extra, damaged, incomplete, or incorrect items. Review the live trade-in terms before sending hardware, especially to understand how exceptions and rejected items are handled.
How long does the trade-in process take?
Newegg’s 2026 program page says inspection generally takes 10–15 business days after the item is received. If the trade-in is approved, Newegg states that credit follows in another 3–5 business days. Those are the stated processing windows after receipt and approval, not a guaranteed total from checkout; shipping time and any review complications add time.

Newegg allows one device per trade-in order, so multiple items require separate orders. Ship within 14 days of receiving the prepaid label; Newegg says it may revise or withdraw the estimate if the shipment is late.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Newegg’s GPU trade-in worth using?
It can be useful when your exact GPU and intended new purchase both qualify, the live estimate is acceptable, and you prefer a purchase-linked process over arranging a separate sale. It is not possible to declare it the best-paying or easiest route for every seller: the final credit depends on inspection, and the program page does not provide a like-for-like comparison with resale marketplaces.
