Newegg’s reported $99 PC assembly service was a beta offer announced in July 2021—not a price or service availability confirmed today. The report described customers choosing components through Newegg’s PC Builder and having the system assembled and delivered. Newegg’s current pages describe a PC configuration tool and general terms for customized systems, but they do not verify that the same $99 customer-selected-parts service is still available.
What Newegg’s $99 service offered in 2021
On July 7, 2021, HotHardware reported that Newegg had announced a $99 beta build-to-order assembly service. Customers could select parts through Newegg’s PC Builder and have the computer assembled and delivered. Newegg framed the service as a convenience for people who wanted to design their own computer without building it themselves. Vishal Mane, Newegg’s director of engineering, put it this way: “Not everyone who designs their own computer wants to build it themselves. The beta’s scope was limited at launch. HotHardware reported that selectable components had to be shipped from Newegg’s California warehouse, and that the available supply included 15 types of CPU and 24 GPUs. Those details describe the 2021 beta, not current inventory or policy. The report’s $99 price likewise applies to that announced beta service only.
Is Newegg’s $99 assembly service available now?
Current information does not establish that the same $99 service remains available. Newegg’s Custom PC Builder currently describes a tool for configuring a custom PC from components offered on Newegg. That confirms the configuration tool exists, but it does not confirm the 2021 beta’s price, customer-parts service, eligibility, or availability.

Newegg warns that actual compatibility may vary and that its builder does not warrant or guarantee compatibility. The tool is not a substitute for compatibility information from component manufacturers. Before buying, verify that the exact parts work together using the relevant manufacturers’ specifications—especially for the CPU, motherboard, memory, graphics card, case, power supply, and cooling setup.

What current customized-system terms say about assembly and changes
Newegg’s general customized-system terms say trained staff assemble and test selected components. Assembly time varies by system, with the applicable time listed on the item page. The terms also say an order must be paid in full before building begins and cannot be changed or canceled once charged. These are general terms for customized systems; they do not establish every term that applied to the specific 2021 $99 beta.
