Fletcher Building appointed Dan Anthony as chief information officer in 2019, with a planned start date of 29 July. He succeeded John Bell. This is a historical appointment, not confirmation of who holds the role today.

What happened in 2019

CIO reported on 10 July 2019 that Dan Anthony would join Fletcher Building as CIO on 29 July, succeeding John Bell. Bell had joined the company in November 2015 from Deloitte, where he was a senior partner. CIO’s 10 July 2019 report

Fletcher Building’s announcement described Anthony as having spent 18 years overseas and having led large technology teams in Australia and the United States. It said he had most recently been director of engineering projects at Google; his earlier experience included Accenture, Bearing Point and Westpac New Zealand. These are background details stated in the appointment coverage and company announcement, not an independent assessment of his work. Fletcher Building’s 2019 announcement

Why the company said it hired him

CEO Ross Taylor said the company was focused on developing technology solutions to enhance customer service. In the company announcement, Taylor said: “We are delighted that Dan will be joining Fletcher Building as we focus on developing technology solutions that will enhance our service to customers.” Fletcher Building’s announcement

How the CIO succession changed later

The 2019 appointment should not be confused with a later leadership change. On 20 November 2024, Fletcher Building announced that CIO Joe Locandro had given notice of resignation and would return to Australia. The company said Michael Butler, then General Manager Enterprise and Digital Services, would succeed him. Butler had joined Fletcher Building in 2021 and was to report to Group CFO Will Wright. Who is Fletcher Building’s CIO now?

The sources available for this article do not establish who holds the CIO role as of 8 October 2026. Fletcher Building’s current Board and Management page, as retrieved, lists executives but does not identify a CIO; that omission does not show that the company has no CIO or establish whether Butler remains in the role.
