Netflix announced U.S. price increases on January 21, 2025. At the time, Standard with ads rose from $6.99 to $7.99 a month, Standard from $15.49 to $17.99, and Premium from $22.99 to $24.99. Those are the 2025 rates—not today’s prices: Netflix raised U.S. rates again in 2026.
How much did Netflix go up in 2025?
The January 2025 U.S. increase raised the monthly price of all three plans. The ad-supported tier’s before-and-after prices were reported contemporaneously; Netflix’s opened customer notice independently documents the Standard and Premium amounts for covered Comcast customers.

The Standard and Premium prices appear in Comcast customer notices filed with New York regulators in June 2025. Those notices set July 17, 2025, as the effective date for the covered Comcast customers; they do not establish a single billing-start date for every Netflix member. What does Netflix cost now?
Netflix’s U.S. Help Center listed these monthly prices on October 8, 2026. They reflect a later 2026 increase and should not be confused with the 2025 rates. A third-party package or add-on may have different pricing or eligibility.

Netflix’s plan page lists the current prices and features at Plans and Pricing. The additional 2026 increase was reported by TechCrunch on March 26, 2026.
How the plans differ
Price is only one part of the choice. Netflix’s current U.S. plan descriptions differ in advertising, video quality, simultaneous streams, downloads and extra-member capacity.

Netflix says a small number of titles are unavailable on Standard with ads because of licensing restrictions, and some older devices are not compatible with that plan. The details are on Netflix’s plan page and ads-plan page.
Why did Netflix raise prices?
In its January 21, 2025 shareholder letter, Netflix said it would sometimes ask members to pay more as it invested in programming and service improvements. The company described the move as an adjustment “across most plans” in the U.S., Canada, Portugal and Argentina. That wording does not mean every plan in every named country changed.

“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix.”
Netflix later said in its April 17, 2025 shareholder letter that recent price adjustments in large markets, including the U.S., UK and Argentina, had performed in line with its expectations. That is Netflix’s account of its own business performance; it does not establish that every member experienced more value or that the increase had no effect on cancellations. How to check or change your Netflix plan
Your own account is the best place to confirm what you are being charged, particularly if Netflix comes through a cable, mobile or other third-party package. Netflix says plans are billed monthly on the signup date and members can change or cancel at any time.
- Open Netflix’s Plans and Pricing page to compare the listed U.S. plan features and rates.
- Check the plan and amount shown in your Netflix account, or check the billing provider’s account if you subscribe through a package.
- If you want a different tier, use the plan-change option in your account. To stop the subscription, use the cancellation option there; Netflix says members can cancel at any time.
Netflix accounts are intended for one household. The number of extra-member slots depends on the plan, and packages or add-ons can change price or eligibility.
