Yes—but the confirmed increase was in 2025, not a separately verified August 2026 hike. Google’s former Nest Aware Plus plan rose from $150 to $200 per year, and on October 1, 2025, Google renamed the service. The current equivalent is Google Home Premium Advanced, which costs $20 per month or $200 per year in the US before applicable taxes.
The lower-cost Google Home Premium Standard plan costs $10 per month or $100 per year. Check your account’s renewal screen before relying on a headline: billing channel, location, taxes, promotions and partner arrangements can change the amount you actually pay.
Is Nest Aware getting another price increase?
The major recent increase was the former Nest Aware Plus annual price rising from $150 to $200 in 2025. Google then renamed second-generation Nest Aware subscriptions effective October 1, 2025:
- Nest Aware became Google Home Premium Standard.
- Nest Aware Plus became Google Home Premium Advanced.
As of August 18, 2026, Google’s public documentation does not confirm a separate new 2026 price increase. Google does say that subscription prices can change because of market conditions, inflation or local tax updates, and that it generally notifies customers by email about 30 days before an increase. See Google’s price-change and subscription guidance.

- Meet the smarter, sharper wired Google Nest Cam Indoor; with 2K HDR video and Gemini, it knows what to look out for and what to do next[1,2,3](Gemini features require a Google Home premium subscription; try it for 1 month at no cost to you)[4]
- With an Advanced subscription to Google Home Premium, know more about what’s happening with notifications like “Kids are playing soccer in the living room”[3]; and get even more detailed descriptions and tap to see a summary of what happened[3]
- Google Nest Cam Indoor keeps your data safe with encrypted video, two-step verification, and enhanced security through your Google Account; and a green LED light lets you know when it’s processing or streaming video
- Video is crisp and clear in 2K HDR, Nest Cam’s highest resolution yet[1,2]; see rich color and details, and see in the dark with night vision; and with a wider, taller field of view, you can see even more of a long hallway or large room[1]
- Search your video history with help from Gemini[3]; try something like “What happened to the vase in the living room?” to see a summary and relevant clips (subscription required)
So if you received a renewal notice, compare that notice with the subscription page for your account. The $200 annual charge may reflect the existing 2025 increase and rebrand rather than a new August 2026 hike.
Current Google Home Premium prices
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Video history |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Home Premium Standard | $10/month | $100/year | 30 days of event history |
| Google Home Premium Advanced | $20/month | $200/year | 60 days of event history plus 10 days of 24/7 history on compatible devices |
Annual billing saves money if you expect to keep the subscription for a full year:
- Standard: $100 annually instead of $120 through 12 monthly payments—a $20 saving.
- Advanced: $200 annually instead of $240 through 12 monthly payments—a $40 saving.
Taxes are additional. Google says US taxes are determined using the billing address, so the final charge can differ from the advertised price. Confirm the amount shown in the Google Store or your Google Play subscription screen.

- Video is crisp and clear in 2K HDR, Nest Cam’s highest resolution yet[1,2]; see rich color and details, and see in the dark with night vision; a wider, taller field of view means almost nothing’s out of frame[1] – even in a long driveway or big yard
- 30 days of event-based video history.
- Intelligent alerts and sound detection.
- Familiar Face detection where supported.
- Coverage for compatible Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers and displays in the same home.
- Some Google Home and Gemini-powered features, depending on the device and region.
Google Home Premium Advanced
Advanced includes Standard’s benefits and adds:
- 60 days of event-based video history.
- Up to 10 days of 24/7 continuous video history for compatible wired cameras and doorbells.
- Additional camera features such as AI event descriptions, Home Brief summaries and searchable camera history with Ask Home, where available.
Advanced does not make every camera a continuously recording camera. Battery-powered cameras, older models and devices in some regions may not support 24/7 recording. Google lists device and regional limitations in its feature guide.
Does one subscription cover every camera?
For current Google-billed Google Home Premium plans, the subscription is generally charged per home rather than per camera. All compatible cameras in that home can therefore share the plan, which makes the service more economical for larger households.
For example, at annual rates:
| Compatible cameras in one home | Standard cost per camera | Advanced cost per camera |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $100 | $200 |
| 3 | About $33.33 | About $66.67 |
| 5 | $20 | $40 |
These calculations assume the devices are compatible and belong to the same Google Home. A single subscription should not be assumed to cover multiple separate homes. First-generation Nest Aware was also structured differently, with separate subscriptions per camera.
What happens to existing subscribers?
Google-billed subscribers on second-generation Nest Aware were automatically moved to the corresponding Google Home Premium tier:
- Existing Nest Aware subscribers were moved to Standard.
- Existing Nest Aware Plus subscribers were moved to Advanced.
No new signup or app reinstall was required, and service continues unless the subscriber cancels or changes plans. The old name may still appear for some customers who receive Nest Aware through a security partner such as ADT or AT&T. Partner prices and terms can differ; those customers should check the partner’s billing page rather than assume Google’s direct price applies. See Google’s subscription-name and partner guidance.

How to check your actual renewal price
The account-specific renewal amount is more reliable than a generic price article. Use the billing channel through which you purchased the subscription.
Google Store
- Open the Google Store and sign in to the Google Account associated with your home.
- Open the account menu and select Subscriptions.
- Select Google Home Premium.
- Review the plan, billing period, renewal date and payment amount.
Google Play
- Open Google Play on Android.
- Open the account’s subscriptions area.
- Select Google Home Premium.
- Review or manage the plan and renewal details.
First-generation Nest Aware
Check the Nest Store subscription page or the Nest app’s Nest Aware settings. Do not cancel a first-generation plan casually: Google warns that the legacy plan may not be available for repurchase after cancellation.

Should you switch from Advanced to Standard?
Choose Standard if you mainly need event clips and alerts, rarely review long stretches of footage, do not need 24/7 recording, or want to reduce the annual bill from $200 to $100.
Keep Advanced if you need 60 rather than 30 days of event history, use compatible wired cameras for continuous recording, or genuinely use features such as searchable history, AI event descriptions and Home Brief.
Do not pay the extra $100 annually simply because Advanced lists more features. If your cameras are battery-powered or incompatible with continuous recording, one of the plan’s most important additions may not apply to you.

- No need to recharge or replace batteries; the Nest Doorbell keeps you plugged into home, day and night
- The Nest Doorbell keeps your data safe with encrypted video, two-step verification, and enhanced security through your Google Account; and a green LED light lets you know when it’s processing or streaming video
- With an Advanced subscription to Google Home Premium, know more about what’s happening with notifications like “Person with flowers”[3]; get even more detailed descriptions and tap to see a summary of what happened[3]
- Video is crisp and clear in 2K HDR, the Nest Doorbell’s highest resolution yet[1,2]; see rich color and details, see in the dark with night vision, and see the bigger picture with an expanded 166° field of view[1]
Also check the switching rules before changing billing frequency. Google’s documentation says subscribers generally cannot simply change an existing arrangement from monthly to annual, or annual to monthly, mid-subscription; you may need to let the current billing period end and then resubscribe. The exact account flow can change.

Legacy subscribers should make a separate decision. A first-generation plan may have different pricing, per-camera billing, continuous-history terms, app behavior or grandfathered conditions. Migrating can provide whole-home coverage and newer Google Home features, but cancellation may make the old plan impossible to recreate.
If you decide to migrate, Google’s documented process is:
- Migrate to a Google Account if required.
- Save important footage using Google Takeout or by creating clips.
- Open the home’s subscription settings.
- Choose the option to get started with Google Home Premium.
- Select Standard or Advanced and monthly or annual billing.
- Review and confirm the purchase.
Google’s migration and billing instructions also describe the supported process and potential prorated refund for unused time.

When canceling makes sense
Cancel if you no longer need cloud video history, rarely review clips, are comfortable relying on live viewing and device alerts, or are moving to a system with local storage.
Before canceling:
- Save clips you may need later.
- Review whether you rely on Familiar Face data or stored event history.
- Confirm which account and home the subscription covers.
- Cancel through the original billing provider—Google Store, Google Play or a security partner.
When the subscription lapses, stored video history and the face library can become unavailable. Google explains the cancellation consequences in its subscription-management guidance.
Alternatives to Google Home Premium
Switching ecosystems may reduce recurring costs or provide features Google does not, but it can require replacing cameras and learning a new app.

- Apple Home with iCloud+ may fit households using Apple Home-compatible cameras.
- Local-storage or NVR systems avoid a continuing cloud subscription but usually require more upfront hardware, setup, maintenance and remote-access work.
Exact alternative pricing is not included here because it varies by device, plan, region and billing date. Compare the complete cost of replacing hardware—not just the monthly subscription—with Google’s current renewal amount.
Bottom line
Nest Aware’s current successor costs $10 per month or $100 per year for Standard, and $20 per month or $200 per year for Advanced. The confirmed recent increase was the 2025 move from $150 to $200 for the former Plus annual tier; Google’s public documentation does not establish a separate 2026 hike. Standard is the sensible downgrade for event-history users, while Advanced is justified mainly by longer retention, compatible 24/7 recording or features you actually use. Legacy subscribers should check the consequences before canceling.
