Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s former Sherman Oaks home was offered for $3.99 million in 2025, according to Realtor.com’s October 6, 2025 report. That report said the listing had a contingent offer. A later account by Homes of Celebs reported a $4 million sale, but the closing figure has not been independently verified here.
What happened to the Sherman Oaks home?
The $3.99 million figure was the asking price reported by Realtor.com in October 2025, not a confirmed sale price. Realtor.com described the listing as having a contingent offer at the time. That historical status does not establish that the property remains available.
Homes of Celebs later reported that the home sold for $4 million. The outlet’s page, published October 14, 2025 and updated July 24, 2026, is a secondary account; no deed, closing document, or MLS record is cited here to independently confirm the transaction.
How the property became part of Harris and Burtka’s story
Realtor.com reported that Harris and Burtka bought the house in 2010 for $2.1 million and sold it in 2014 for $2.99 million. Those transaction figures are the outlet’s reporting, rather than independently checked public-record findings.
#1 Best Overall
The couple lived there while their twins were young. In 2012, the home’s backyard hosted their interview with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah’s Next Chapter, the appearance that later helped bring the property back into public attention.
What the home included
Realtor.com described the Hamptons-style residence as roughly 4,500 square feet on a 0.29-acre lot, south of Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks’ Stone Canyon area. Its reported layout and amenities included:
Rank #2
- Six bedrooms: five upstairs, plus a possible sixth bedroom downstairs.
- A home office, yoga room, and den.
- A saltwater pool and spa with a waterslide, as well as a swim-spa.
- An outdoor bath and shower, barbecue, pizza oven, and fire pit.
Later smart-home and energy upgrades
Realtor.com reported that later owners added remote controls for lighting, HVAC, appliances, and other electronic devices, along with Enphase solar, Tesla backup wall batteries, and an EV charging station. Listing agent Andrew Manning estimated the cost of those additions at $80,000 in comments to Realtor.com; that is an agent’s estimate, not an audited project total.
Manning also told Realtor.com, “It is a truly great family home.” The description reflects the listing agent’s view, not an appraisal or a statement by Harris.

The figures refer to different stages in the property’s history, so they should not be treated as interchangeable: Realtor.com reported the 2010 purchase and 2014 sale, then the 2025 asking price; Homes of Celebs later reported a sale at a higher figure than that ask.
