The $600,000 price attached to Nedlands mayor Fiona Argyle’s October 2024 Facebook Marketplace listing was for the restored house structure alone—not the land beneath it. PerthNow reported that the home was advertised as removable and transportable to a buyer’s own site. A July 2025 follow-up said the Kinninmont Avenue property had since sold for $2.9 million, with the weatherboard house sold separately.
What was offered for $600,000?
On 27 October 2024, PerthNow reported that Argyle had listed her restored 1920s family home on Facebook Marketplace as a “removable house.” The asking price was $600,000 for the house, with no land included. The story said the listing was attracting offers from people interested in buying the structure and moving it elsewhere. This is a historical asking price, not evidence that the house remains available.
PerthNow described the home, based on the Marketplace listing, as a five-bedroom, two-bathroom weatherboard house featuring two gas fireplaces, a large Ilve oven, two 100-year-old cast-iron baths, solar panels and chandeliers. The original Marketplace post was not independently reviewed in the reporting available here.
The listing copy quoted by PerthNow called it “One of Perth’s most stunning homes” and said it was “available for sale, to be transported to your own land.” It also claimed, “Within weeks, this stunning homestead which has been fully restored can be yours.” Those were promotional statements attributed to the listing; they do not independently establish that a move could be completed within that timeframe.

How the house and land were being treated separately
The 2024 report described the Kinninmont Street site as 1,013 square metres and said Argyle was seeking to divide it into three proposed lots of 338 square metres each. It reported asking prices in the mid-$1-million range for each proposed lot and said the property had been bought as house and land together for $1.35 million in 2007. Proposed lots and asking prices are not proof of subdivision approval or completed lot sales.
The distinction matters financially: the $600,000 was the asking price for the house structure, while the land was a separate part of the property story. The reported 2007 purchase price covered both house and land, so it is not directly comparable with the later house-only asking price.

What happened to the property afterward?
In a 14 July 2025 follow-up, PerthNow reported that Argyle had sold the 1,012-square-metre Kinninmont Avenue block for $2.9 million in June 2025, with the weatherboard house structure sold separately. The 2024 and 2025 reports give site areas differing by one square metre; each figure is retained as reported rather than reconciled.
The follow-up said the advertisement highlighted in-principle approval for three lots and described R60 zoning as allowing a possible yield of six 150-square-metre lots. These are the later article’s descriptions of the advertisement and potential, not independent confirmation that six lots were approved or created.

Why the sale drew attention
PerthNow’s 2025 story reported that Argyle attributed the sale to privacy concerns following construction by neighbours, quoting her as saying, “They destroyed our privacy.” The same story recounted an earlier planning dispute and quoted her stance: “I know it sounds ironic but (the advert discusses what is possible under) the planning laws.” These statements explain her reported perspective; they are not an independent finding about the neighbours or planning process.
The unusual feature of the listing was its split-sale premise: a substantial restored home was marketed as something a buyer could relocate, while the underlying land was being discussed separately. By the 2025 follow-up, the site had reportedly sold and the house structure had also been sold separately.
