No. Stephen Curry does not rank fourth on the 2026 NBA net-worth lists we could check. SportsMonkie, updated August 15, 2026, places him twelfth. BounceMojo’s visible top eight does not include him at all. We could not find a complete, named-publisher top ten with Curry in fourth place, so this article does not publish one. What follows explains where the claim breaks down, what Curry’s published figures actually measure, and how to read any “richest NBA players” list.

Where the fourth-place claim breaks down

Two 2026 publisher rankings were checked against the claim. Neither supports it, and they also disagree with each other about the top of the list.

Publisher and date Stated basis Visible order Stephen Curry’s position
SportsMonkie, updated August 15, 2026 Estimated 2026 net worth. It states the list is not based on career earnings and favors retained wealth such as royalties, operating businesses and equity stakes. 1 Michael Jordan; 2 Magic Johnson; 3 Junior Bridgeman; 4 LeBron James 12th
BounceMojo, 2026 Estimates compiled from public sources, reported salaries, endorsements, business holdings and media reports. The publisher says the figures may not be exact. 1 Michael Jordan; 2 Junior Bridgeman; 3 Magic Johnson; 4 LeBron James; 5 Kobe Bryant; 6 Shaquille O’Neal; 7 Hakeem Olajuwon; 8 Kevin Durant Not in the visible top eight; position beyond that not stated

Both lists are publisher estimates, not audited rankings. Their differences in order come largely from differences in method, which is why the method matters more than any single position.

The source of the “Curry fourth” ordering could not be identified, so there is no list, date or method to check it against. Treat the claim as unverified.

Curry’s published figures measure different things

Three numbers are commonly attached to Curry, and they are not interchangeable. Only the first is a net-worth estimate.

Figure Publisher and date What it measures
$350 million Celebrity Net Worth, profile last updated September 26, 2026 Estimated net worth. A publisher estimate, not a verified balance sheet.
$300 million Parade, article dated June 18, 2026 Estimated net worth. It differs from Celebrity Net Worth’s figure, so the publisher and date should always be stated with it.
$124.7 million Forbes, 2026 profile; reference date May 22, 2026 Earnings labeled as highest-paid-athlete earnings for the period. This is an annual earnings figure, not net worth.

Net worth is the estimated value of what a person owns after debts. Salary and annual earnings are money received in a period. Career earnings are the running total of that money over a career. A player can have a large annual earnings figure and a net-worth estimate well below the richest names, or the reverse, depending on how much wealth has been kept. Career earnings are not the measure SportsMonkie uses, and none of the sources here state a Curry career-earnings total.

Rank #2

Why method changes the order

A ranking that counts retained wealth, such as equity in businesses or ongoing royalties, will treat a former star’s ownership stakes very differently from a list that adds reported salaries and endorsement income. SportsMonkie’s approach puts weight on what a player keeps. BounceMojo’s sources include salary and endorsement reporting. Neither approach is wrong, but they answer different questions, so the same player can land in very different places.

Forbes’ Curry profile records his business and sponsor relationships, including Curry Brand and Unanimous Media. That context helps explain why off-court income matters to his overall financial picture. It does not, by itself, establish his net worth.

Forbes’ LeBron James profile was not accessible when checked, so no Forbes-based figure for him appears in this article.

How to read any “richest NBA players” list

  • Measure: Confirm whether the ranking is by net worth, annual earnings or career earnings. Those are three separate lists.
  • Date: Check the publication or update date. Figures for the same player can change within a few months, as Curry’s two 2026 estimates show.
  • Publisher and method: Look for a stated method. Estimates built from public reporting may not be exact, and the publisher may say so.
  • Inclusion rules: Check how the list treats estates, retired players and business equity before comparing positions across lists.
  • Consistency: Compare players only within one list that uses one basis, not across lists from different publishers.

Used this way, the lists are useful for seeing which names publishers consider wealthiest and why. They are not a single authoritative ranking, and a fourth-place Curry finish is not established by any of the 2026 rankings checked here.
