First branded Naver Pay Wallet and later called Npay Wallet, it is best understood as a digital-asset wallet for NFTs, event access and fan experiences—not as a crypto exchange. Naver’s later announcements show the service expanding into ticketing, tourism certificates and NFT-based communities, while the cited public materials do not establish ordinary crypto buying and selling as a feature.
What Npay Wallet is—and what it is not
Naver described the beta as a non-custodial digital-asset wallet accessed through its Naver Pay app. At launch, its prominent use was holding NFT-style collectibles that the interface called “Art” and taking part in sports and entertainment campaigns. Naver said broader token-storage functionality would follow with a formal launch, but its August 2024 announcement did not give a date for that launch. Naver’s beta announcement
That makes “crypto wallet” an incomplete shorthand. The wallet holds digital assets, but the launch announcement did not establish a trading platform, fiat on-ramp, or a way to buy and sell cryptocurrency. Nor does documentation that it supports NFTs on Chiliz Chain prove that every token on that network is supported. Its publicly described functions center on NFTs and digital experiences.
Naver called the wallet non-custodial, while also describing access through a linked Naver ID and a separate wallet password. That is a different recovery experience from a wallet whose access depends solely on a user-held seed phrase. The announcement does not detail the underlying key-management or recovery architecture, so “non-custodial” should not be taken to mean that recovery works exactly like a conventional seed-phrase wallet—or that losing account credentials carries no risk.

How Chiliz fits into the partnership
Chiliz supplied the underlying Chiliz Chain integration. Chiliz positions its blockchain around sports and entertainment applications, including fan engagement and digital collectibles. Naver and Chiliz had announced a broader partnership in May 2024 to explore fintech services connected with sports and entertainment, including fan-token experiences, ticketing and fan events. The terms describe a network integration, not Naver ownership of Chiliz or Chiliz operation of Naver Pay. Chiliz Chain, CHZ, fan tokens and NFTs are related parts of an ecosystem but are not interchangeable: the chain is a blockchain network; CHZ is a Chiliz ecosystem token; fan tokens are assets associated with teams or fan programs; and NFTs can represent unique collectibles, tickets or certificates. The partnership does not by itself establish Npay Wallet support for every one of those assets.

What users could do at launch
The beta was designed around accessible NFT use rather than trading terminology. Users could create a wallet through Naver Pay, keep digital collectibles called “Art,” and participate in partner campaigns and exclusive events. The launch campaign included commemorative NFTs and a European football travel promotion. Its first phase offered 24 two-person packages, with Chiliz describing a plan to award 50 packages by the end of 2024; these were time-limited launch promotions, not current offers. How the product has evolved
Naver’s later announcements show the wallet being used for practical access and participation, beyond the initial commemorative-collectible framing:
- Conference collectibles and entry: Naver used wallet-based NFT tickets and participation collectibles at its DAN24 conference in November 2024. Naver’s DAN24 announcement
- Sports ticketing: In March 2025, Naver announced an agreement with the KLPGA tour for NFT ticketing. At the May 2025 NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, Npay Wallet supported NFT-based tickets, QR entry and round-specific collectibles. - Sports-festival assets: In June 2025, Naver announced plans for NFT tickets and medals connected with the 2026 Jeju National Sports Festival. Naver’s announcement
- Tourism certificates: Naver said its Jeju digital tourism certificate service had passed 100,000 signups after launching in September 2025. The figure refers to signups for that service, not Npay Wallet users overall. Naver’s December 2025 update

These examples document NFT tickets, entry, collectibles, certificates and community functions. They do not, on their own, confirm broad token storage, open-market transfers, resale, or crypto trading.

How the launch-era access path worked
Naver’s August 2024 instructions described this route in the Naver Pay app:
- Open the Naver Pay app and choose 전체메뉴 (“All menu”).
- Select the NPay Wallet widget near the top of the menu.
- Link your Naver ID and set a separate wallet password.
- Open the wallet’s Art or digital-asset area.
This is the launch-era path, not confirmation that the same labels remain in the current app. If the wallet option is missing, check that the app is up to date and look for a changed Npay menu; access outside the intended Korean market is not established by the launch materials. For an NFT that does not appear, confirm that it was issued to your account and allow for an issuance delay before assuming the wallet cannot display it.

What the public evidence establishes about its capabilities

A ticket NFT may be intended for admission rather than resale, and holding an NFT does not guarantee that the wallet offers a transfer function. Access rules depend on the issuing event or partner. If a ticket QR fails, verify ticket eligibility and the organizer’s entry instructions; the problem may be with the event’s admission process rather than the blockchain.
Who Npay Wallet may suit
- Korean Naver Pay users who receive a ticket, certificate or collectible through a participating service.
- Sports and entertainment fans who want event access, participation records or NFT-gated community features.
- People curious about practical NFT uses who prefer a service connected to a familiar consumer app over a wallet used mainly for trading.
Naver’s launch materials target the Korean market and tie setup to Naver Pay and a Naver ID. They do not establish general availability for international users, so readers outside Korea should not assume they can create or use a wallet on the same terms.
When it is the wrong tool
Npay Wallet should not be treated as a main trading wallet based on the cited information. Active traders, people who need broad multi-chain support, or users seeking a mature crypto exchange need a product whose current asset coverage, transfer options and trading functions are explicitly documented. General-purpose self-custody wallets may serve broader chain and token needs but require users to manage access credentials themselves; Socios.com is more directly focused on fan-token and sports-fan engagement. These are different product categories, and current fees, eligibility and supported assets should be checked with each provider.
The trade-off for Npay’s consumer-oriented approach is reliance on the Naver ecosystem and participating issuers. An NFT’s practical value may be event access, verification or participation rather than resale or liquidity. If a transfer option is unavailable, that may reflect the asset’s intended utility or issuer restrictions; it does not necessarily mean the wallet is malfunctioning. Likewise, the reported 50,000 wallet creations describe a Chiliz-reported test wave, not proof of broad adoption.

The notable strategy is not Naver’s entry into crypto trading; the documented emphasis is embedding blockchain-linked assets in familiar activities such as attending events, collecting certificates and joining fan communities. That can reduce friction for users encountering NFTs through a service they already use, while giving Chiliz a route into Korean consumer experiences. Whether those uses lead to sustained mainstream adoption is an interpretation, not something established by the announcements alone.
