The notices marked a step toward taking possession; they did not establish that possession had been completed. The ED’s allegations remain allegations, and a later trial-court ruling on the prosecution complaint was procedural, not a decision on their truth.
What the ED’s April 2025 notices said
The ED reported serving notices on April 12, 2025, to take possession of immovable assets in Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow. The agency valued those properties at Rs 661 crore. Contemporary coverage described the action as notices seeking possession, not as confirmation that the ED had taken control of the properties. The Indian Express reported the notice action and valuation.
Properties identified in reporting
- Herald House in Delhi.
- Associated Journals Limited (AJL) premises in Mumbai.
- An AJL building in Lucknow.
Hindustan Times identified these locations and reported that AJL publishes the National Herald platform and that Young Indian Private Limited owns AJL.
What the Rs 661 crore figure covers
The Rs 661 crore figure is the ED’s reported valuation of the immovable properties targeted by the possession notices. It is an agency-reported figure, not an independently assessed valuation established by the cited coverage.

It should not be combined with a separate reported attachment: in November 2023, the ED attached AJL shares valued at Rs 90.2 crore. Shares and immovable property are distinct categories. NDTV Profit reported the separate share figure.
What the ED alleges—and what has been decided
The ED alleges that AJL assets were taken over through Young Indian as part of a money-laundering scheme. Those are the agency’s allegations, not findings of fact established by a court. The Economic Times summarized the agency’s case.

December 2025 trial-court order
On December 16, 2025, a Delhi trial court declined to take cognisance of the ED’s prosecution complaint. Reporting said the court’s reasoning was that the complaint was based on a private complaint rather than an FIR. This was a procedural ruling on whether to take cognisance; it did not decide whether the alleged scheme occurred. Reporting also said investigation continued following a Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing FIR registered on October 3, 2025. The Indian Express covered the trial-court order.
ED challenge and later status
On December 22, 2025, the Delhi High Court issued notice on the ED’s challenge to the trial-court order. LiveLaw reported that the matter was listed for March 12, 2026. The available reporting cited here does not establish what happened at or after that listing, nor does it confirm the present status of possession. LiveLaw reported the High Court notice and listing.

How to read the case timeline
| Event | What it means |
|---|---|
| Attachment of property or shares | An agency action concerning specified assets; it is not the same as a notice seeking possession or proof that possession was completed. |
| April 12, 2025 possession notices | The ED said it served notices to take possession of immovable property valued at Rs 661 crore. The notices alone do not show that possession followed. |
| December 16, 2025 refusal to take cognisance | A trial-court decision on the procedural basis for the prosecution complaint, not a ruling on the merits of the allegations. |
| December 22, 2025 High Court notice | The ED’s challenge proceeded to a High Court notice; the reported March 12, 2026 listing does not, in the cited material, resolve the appeal or establish current possession status. |
For a current update on possession or the appeal, readers should rely on subsequent court records or reporting that confirms the outcome rather than infer it from the original notices or the reported listing.
