What the January 2024 announcement reported
Scroll.in’s January 5, 2024 report said applications were open at mpsc.gov.in through January 25, 2024, until 11:59 p.m. That deadline has passed; this is a historical account, not an active application notice.

Scroll.in’s January 5, 2024 report described a combined preliminary examination worth 400 marks, followed by mains examinations for the relevant groups or services and personal interviews. It did not establish the complete service-wise pattern or subsequent revisions; candidates should rely on the applicable official advertisement and later notices for authoritative details.

How the dates changed
The January report gave April 28, 2024 as the tentative preliminary-exam date and December 14–16, 2024 for the State Services mains exam. It warned that dates could change. MPSC’s official Telegram channel later stated that the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024 would be held on December 1, 2024. The December date superseded the preliminary date reported in January.
The cycle also changed in scope: a later MPSC channel notice included an agriculture-services amendment and an application/options period of September 27 to October 17, 2024. The initial announcement therefore was not the complete final picture. MPSC’s official Telegram channel carried these later notices.

Eligibility and application fees reported at the time
The January article summarized the age range as 18–38, with the cutoff date depending on the post (January 25 or April 1, 2024), and said upper-age relaxation applied to reserved categories. It gave graduation as the educational baseline. These are summaries from that report, not a complete statement of post-wise eligibility; the relevant advertisement and amendments govern.
The article reported application fees of ₹544 for open-category candidates and ₹344 for reserved-category candidates. These were amounts reported for the 2024 application, not current MPSC fees.

Application steps described in the 2024 report
The article described the process as follows. These are historical steps and should not be treated as instructions for a current recruitment cycle.
- Visit mpsc.gov.in and select “Online Facilities.”
- Open the “Online Application System” and register.
- Complete the application form and pay the applicable fee.
- Submit the required documents, then download or print a copy of the submitted form.
For any current MPSC recruitment, check the commission’s live candidate portal and the notice for that specific cycle. MPSC’s information site now displays later recruitment information and candidate-service categories: mpsc.gov.in.
