More than 100 fans and collectors queued outside Perth Mint in Western Australia on 16 October 2025 for the launch of two Bluey Christmas coins. Despite the location, the coins were issued by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM), a separate institution. RAM offered two $1 versions: a coloured uncirculated coin and a coloured fine silver proof coin.
What happened outside Perth Mint?
PerthNow reported that more than 100 people lined up outside Perth Mint on Thursday, 16 October 2025. Some had camped overnight; one attendee told the outlet she had held third place in the queue since 3:30 p.m. the previous day. The report called the products limited-edition “Bluey Christmas Dollarbucks.” PerthNow’s account of the launch
The queue was outside Perth Mint, but the Royal Australian Mint issued the coins. PerthNow quoted Perth Mint CEO Paul Graham saying, “People want them — the demand is significantly outstripping supply.” That was his contemporaneous comment, not an independently published measure of demand. PerthNow
What were the two Bluey Christmas coins?
Both RAM $1 coins depict Bluey and Bingo wearing paper crowns and celebrating Christmas. Their finishes, packaging, original issue prices and mintages differed:

Where were the coins sold?
For the 2025 launch, RAM said the coins would be available from 16 October through its Mint Shop, contact centre and participating authorised distributors. An EQL ballot was held before release. Those were the announced launch channels; the information does not confirm whether either coin can still be purchased, what it now costs, or whether a particular seller is an authorised distributor. What the launch response does—and does not—show
The reported queue gives a snapshot of strong interest at one launch location. It does not establish nationwide demand, current scarcity, resale prices or investment performance. Graham’s remark about demand outstripping supply is an attributed comment, not a published statistic. RAM’s acting CEO Emily Martin said the Mint was pleased to release more Bluey coins after the previous year’s coins brought joy to families. PerthNow Royal Australian Mint release
