What the 2024 “better buy” claim was based on
MoonTaurus was promoted in 2024 as a presale token, with coverage emphasizing a low initial price and ambitious targets. Those statements describe what promoters said they planned or projected; they are not evidence that the prices or returns were achieved.
- A July 28, 2024 Coinpedia press-release page described an initial presale price of $0.005, a $0.07 launch target and the possibility of a 100x increase by Q4 2024. These were promotional claims, not realized-price data. Coinpedia’s July 28, 2024 release.
- A July 24, 2024 Chainwire press release republished by Decrypt said MoonTaurus had raised $100,000 within two hours of presale launch and described planned stages from $0.005 toward a $0.07 presale endpoint. A separate August 11, 2024 Metowy headline said “Experts Recommend MoonTaurus,” but the reviewed text does not name a credentialed expert or offer transparent comparative analysis. That headline alone cannot establish expert consensus. Metowy’s August 11, 2024 article.
What can be established about PEPE
A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing concerning a PEPE trust provides dated disclosures about PEPE’s supply and wallet history. It states that “PEPE is not subject to any unlocking, vesting or release schedule and substantially all of the total supply of PEPE is in circulation.” These disclosures describe PEPE; equivalent independently verifiable MoonTaurus information was not established in the available sources. Supply events and concentration disclosed in the filing
- The filing describes a transfer in August 2023 by three former team members of approximately 16 trillion PEPE tokens—about 3.8% of total supply—from the CEX Wallet to exchanges. It says the event affected price.
- It says the remaining founder burned approximately 6.9 trillion tokens, or 1.6% of supply, on October 24, 2023.
- As of January 2026, the ten largest addresses collectively held approximately 41% of circulating supply. The filing cautions that many large wallets are exchange omnibus wallets, so address concentration does not necessarily identify individual holders’ beneficial ownership.
Why the sources do not establish which was the better investment
The cited MoonTaurus coverage presents presale terms, promotional targets and a fundraising claim, while the SEC filing supplies dated PEPE disclosures. They do not provide a like-for-like performance comparison. In particular, a planned MNTR presale or launch price is not comparable to a realized PEPE market price without matched dates, reliable token identity, and trading and liquidity data.
The available sources also do not establish MoonTaurus’s current contract identity, exchange availability, liquidity, operating status or comparable realized returns. A link hub advertising a “Buy MNTR” route does not verify a token contract or current availability. What a fair MNTR–PEPE comparison would require
Before treating a “better buy” claim as analysis, check whether both assets can be compared on the same dated and verifiable basis:
- Identity: Confirm each token’s contract address and network from reliable project and market sources.
- Price performance: Compare realized prices over the same defined period, rather than matching a presale target to a traded market price.
- Trading access and liquidity: Establish where each token is actually tradable and whether reported prices can be acted on at meaningful size.
- Supply and distribution: Review circulating supply, allocation, vesting or unlock arrangements, and concentration, with dates and wallet caveats.
- Control and risk: Look for clear information about project control, operations and material risks.
- Forecast provenance: Identify who made a prediction, their evidence, incentives and track record. A headline using the word “experts” is not a substitute for those details.
The available MoonTaurus sources do not establish enough of these facts to complete that comparison. The 2024 claim is best read as promotional coverage from that period, not as proof that MNTR outperformed PEPE or as guidance for a decision now.
