They hoped to open in the first week of September 2022, but that was an announced target—not confirmation that the venue opened or is operating today.
The plans were reported by Tyler Brown in PerthNow on 28 July 2022. The report described the proposed concept, menu and the D’Arcys’ hospitality background. It does not establish the venue’s present status, ownership, opening hours, prices, menu or booking arrangements.

Who was taking over Clarke’s of North Beach?
The reported operators were Wes and Cara D’Arcy, whom the article associated with Jarrah Bar and Cafe in Hillarys, The Iluka and Grafton St in Mullaloo. The Iluka was operated with partners Ryan and Nikki Esqulant.
The report also recounted earlier ventures, including an interest in Mullaloo Beach Hotel from 2015 to 2020, Dat’s Amore, Grafton St Cafe and Sea Beauty Spa and Wellbeing. It said the D’Arcys later sold their shares in those ventures except for their retained interest in Grafton St, before moving on to Jarrah.

What kind of venue was Mister D’Arcy planned to be?
Wes D’Arcy described a hybrid: restaurant-quality food in an atmosphere closer to a bar, with the option of special-occasion dining as well as a more casual visit. In the 2022 report, he said bookings would not be essential; that was a statement of intention at the time, not a confirmed current booking policy.
The proposed setting included a chic bar, terrace dining, fires and candles. D’Arcy described the Asian influence as somewhere between Nobu and Long Chim and said he wanted a “Raffles Singapore feeling.” He framed the aim as a welcoming local venue with cocktails, premium beers, a local and international wine list, and fresh food at a fair market price.

What food did the planned menu include?
The menu direction announced in 2022 combined Japanese-influenced tapas with South-East Asian dishes made using local seafood, meats, fruit and vegetables. Examples in the report included:
- Margaret River beef fillet tataki
- Homemade pork and chive potstickers
- Blue swimmer crab fried rice
- Braised local beef cheek rendang
These were examples of the proposed menu, not a verified menu today.

Why was it called Mister D’Arcy?
The name was presented as a tribute to Wes D’Arcy’s late father. D’Arcy connected the tribute to the welcoming, community-oriented approach he associated with his father’s role in his earlier Irish restaurants, and said the family wanted to operate in the community where they lived rather than expand across Perth.

The report captured the D’Arcys’ plans and statements as of 28 July 2022. It also quoted D’Arcy saying the businesses had grown from zero to $20 million a year in sales over three years. That is an owner-attributed claim; the report did not independently audit the figure or define which businesses or accounting basis it covered.
