The offer paired a 128GB Google Pixel 9 for $359 with 24 months of prepaid Mint Unlimited service for $360, for a total of $719 before applicable taxes and fees. Mint’s currently indexed Pixel 9 listing is out of stock and shows a different offer, so the original bundle should be treated as historical, not available now.
How the $800 saving added up
Droid Life reported the promotion on June 5, 2025. The headline combined a handset discount and a service discount; the $799 comparison price was the price cited for the phone in that promotion, not necessarily its current market value.
| Item | Comparison price in the promotion | Promotional price | Advertised saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 9, 128GB | $799 | $359 | $440 |
| Mint Unlimited for 24 months | $720 ($30 per month) | $360 ($15 per month) | $360 |
| Total | $1,519 | $719 upfront | $800 |
The arithmetic is $799 − $359 = $440 off the phone, plus $720 − $360 = $360 off service. Those two discounts make the advertised $800. The $719 total was before applicable taxes and fees; Mint says those charges are extra on its plan pages. Droid Life’s June 5, 2025 report described the offer, while Mint’s 12-month Unlimited page provides current plan pricing and tax disclosures.
What “two years of service” meant
The service was prepaid, not free: the customer paid $360 for the full 24-month term, an effective $15 per month. The offer did not appear to involve conventional postpaid phone financing, but paying upfront still carries a practical commitment. If you stop using Mint before the term ends, do not assume unused service will be refunded; ask Mint about its refund and cancellation rules before buying.

The historical product listing described Unlimited talk and text, high-speed data, 5G, calling to Mexico, Canada, and the U.K., and up to 10GB of monthly hotspot data. Those details belong to that offer snapshot. Mint’s current general plan disclosures describe different terms, including up to 20GB of hotspot data and possible speed reductions after 50GB during network congestion. Current terms should not be retroactively treated as the terms of the 2025 bundle. See Mint’s current plan terms and its Unlimited plan disclosure for the applicable offer.
Eligibility, port-in rules, and the phone lock
The historical bundle was presented as a switch-to-Mint deal. One indexed Mint product-page version said a number port-in was required; a later version said it was not. That discrepancy points to changing offer versions, so the requirement cannot be generalized across every listing. If a similar promotion appears again, read the live checkout terms for eligibility, port-in rules, stock, and the service term before paying.

The more consequential restriction for some buyers is the phone’s lock status. The historical product-page snapshot for the bundle listed the Pixel 9 as “Unlocked: No.” That is a qualification of that specific offer listing, not a guarantee about every Mint Pixel 9 sale. Do not assume the phone could immediately be used on another carrier. Check Mint’s unlock policy and the device’s eligibility before purchase; if immediate carrier flexibility matters, compare with an unlocked phone bought separately.
Is the bundle a good value for your budget?
The deal made the most financial sense for someone who already expected to use Mint for about two years, could afford the upfront payment, and was comfortable with the phone’s lock status and the plan’s terms. It also avoided monthly service bills during the prepaid period. The key comparison is not just $719 against the Pixel’s sticker price: it is $719 plus taxes and fees against the cost of a phone and the service you would actually choose over the same period.

- The power behind AI on Google Pixel - Google Tensor G4 is Pixel’s most powerful chip yet. It’s built for advanced AI, cutting-edge photos and videos, and smarter ways to help all day.
- More compelling: You want the Pixel 9 specifically, have reliable Mint coverage where you live and work, and expect to stay for most or all of the prepaid term.
- Less compelling: You may change carriers, need an unlocked device, rely on service features or data performance that Mint does not provide, or cannot comfortably pay the bundle price upfront.
- Check your data use: Current Mint Unlimited disclosures say speeds may be reduced during congestion after 50GB in a monthly cycle. Hotspot allowances and video limits depend on the applicable plan terms.
- Compare newer phones: By 2026, the Pixel 9 is an older generation. Compare its total cost with a newer Pixel at its current price rather than treating the promotion’s $799 comparison price as today’s market benchmark.
For a fair alternative comparison, add the unlocked handset price to 12 or 24 months of your chosen service, then include taxes and fees. Buying a phone separately may cost more initially but can avoid tying the device to one carrier’s unlock rules. Mint’s 12-month Unlimited page currently lists a $15-per-month introductory rate for the initial term and a $30-per-month 12-month renewal price; terms, taxes, and availability can change. A phone purchased separately with a different carrier or plan should be compared on its own full-term cost.
What happens after the prepaid term?
The 2025 promotion established 24 months of service at the advertised prepaid price; it did not establish what a customer would pay afterward. Mint’s current plan pages state that introductory pricing applies to the initial term and that standard pricing may apply at renewal. Before committing to a similar offer, check the renewal price, renewal length, automatic-renewal setting, taxes and fees, and device-unlock eligibility. Current plan options and terms are listed on Mint’s 12-month plan page.

Is the $719 Pixel 9 offer still available?
No current availability is established for the original bundle. Mint’s indexed Pixel 9 page shows the device out of stock and a different one-year Unlimited offer, rather than the 24-month deal reported in June 2025. Check the live Pixel 9 listing and Mint deals page for current inventory and terms; neither should be read as confirmation that the historical $719 bundle has returned.
