No verified, story-specific reaction from Lee Hendrie appears in the available coverage. The underlying story was also disputed: reports on 23 May 2025 said Millwall had discussed investment with Turki Alalshikh, while the club said the takeover reports had no substance and that it was not for sale. That is not evidence of a completed takeover or a confirmed deal.
What did the reports say?
BBC Sport’s 23 May 2025 gossip column said Millwall and Saudi businessman Turki Alalshikh were understood to have held talks about investment, attributing the claim to the Daily Mail. That is secondary reporting of alleged talks, not an official announcement by Millwall or confirmation of an agreement. BBC Sport reported the claim as investment discussions.
GOAL likewise reported the Daily Mail’s account of negotiations, but also noted Millwall’s denial that discussions had taken place. GOAL presented the story as reported speculation rather than a completed transaction.
What did Millwall say?
Millwall told The New Arab there was “no substance regarding any takeover talks” and said the club was not for sale. This is the club’s stated response to the reports; it does not independently establish what may or may not have been discussed privately. The New Arab published the response on 23 May 2025.
