Microsoft Rewards point costs for Xbox gift cards reportedly increased in the US and UK in February 2026, but there is no single worldwide rate. Windows Central reported that a US $10 card rose from 9,500 to 10,000 points and a UK £10 card from 11,780 to 12,400 points. Your current price and availability depend on your region, Rewards status and the offer shown on your signed-in account.
What changed in the reported prices?
The reported increase was in the number of Rewards points needed to redeem an Xbox gift card—not in the card’s face value. Windows Central reported the following February 2026 changes:

The US and UK figures are Windows Central’s reported comparisons. The euro figure was relayed from a social post, not published as an official Microsoft rate. Microsoft’s support pages do not confirm these historical price changes or provide a universal current price table.
How to check the current cost for your account
- Sign in to the Microsoft account that will redeem the points and open its Microsoft Rewards page.
- Find the Xbox gift card offer available to you and check both its denomination and point cost. Microsoft says offers vary by country and directs members to their Rewards page for current offers.
- Check the rate displayed for your own account. Microsoft says Level 2 members may receive cheaper redemption rates on certain rewards, so another member’s point cost may not match yours.
- Redeem in the region where your account was signed up. Microsoft advises against redeeming in another region or using a VPN while redeeming.
Why prices and availability can differ
Rewards offers vary by country and region, and Microsoft’s guidance is to redeem in the region used when signing up. The reported US and UK increases therefore should not be assumed to apply at the same rate—or at all—to every market. The euro example is not enough to establish a consistent price change across euro-area countries.

Some gift cards may not always appear in Rewards. Microsoft says it cannot provide a timetable for when an unavailable gift card will return or be removed, so a missing offer does not establish that it has been permanently discontinued.

Microsoft says Xbox and Microsoft gift cards redeemed through Rewards are deposited into the Microsoft account balance, subject to applicable terms. That is distinct from buying a gift card: a cash purchase is not evidence of a different Rewards redemption rate or of points being awarded. If purchasing instead, make sure the card’s region and denomination match your account and intended use.
