What the report establishes—and what it does not
The Neowin headline describes point amounts returning to previous values on the Microsoft Rewards home page. The report’s accessible listing does not provide enough detail to identify the affected activity or verify the former and changed amounts, the timing, or the geographic scope. It therefore supports a limited historical claim, not a specific point total or a claim that every member saw the same change.

Microsoft’s current guidance says Rewards offers and earning rates can differ by region and time. To see what is available to you now, check the Rewards dashboard while signed in to the account you use for the program: Microsoft Rewards help.
How to check your current points and offers
- Sign in to the Microsoft account enrolled in Rewards.
- Open the Microsoft Rewards dashboard and review its current offers and point amounts.
- If an expected balance or search credit is missing, check that you are viewing the right account and look for account, browser synchronization, Give Mode, or search-counter issues.
Microsoft lists Give Mode, being signed into a different account, browser data synchronization, and reaching the search counter maximum among possible reasons search points or balances may not appear as expected. Why a reported restoration is not a guarantee
Microsoft says earning opportunities—including searches, purchases, quizzes, and games—may vary by region and time. Its Services Agreement also reserves the right to change, modify, discontinue, or cancel the Rewards program or any part of it, at any time and without prior notice: Microsoft Services Agreement. A report that amounts returned at one point in time does not establish that those amounts are permanent or apply worldwide.
Rewards points have no cash value, according to Microsoft’s program information. Treat them as program points governed by the offers and terms available to your account, not as a fixed cash balance: About Microsoft Rewards.
