Is Office 2024 available, and is 20% off?
Yes. Microsoft offers consumer editions of Office 2024 for one PC or Mac. They are one-time purchases rather than Microsoft 365 subscriptions. However, no reproducible 20% offer, coupon code, or current price is established here. An old sale report is not proof of a current deal, so treat “save 20%” as an unverified promotion unless a seller shows the price and terms at checkout.
Microsoft’s U.S. product page is the Office Home & Business 2024 Store listing. Check the final price, seller, eligible edition, region, any code, and expiration there or with a reputable authorized retailer. Do not calculate a saving from a reference price unless you can confirm what that price represents.

Both consumer editions are licensed for one PC or Mac, not a household’s full collection of devices. Microsoft also sells some individual applications separately. Office LTSC 2024 is a distinct commercial and government product obtained through volume licensing; do not assume its app list or features describe the consumer editions. What you get with a one-time purchase
Office 2024 is a perpetual license for the release you buy: it does not require a recurring Office subscription, but it also does not include the next major Office release. You can receive security and quality updates, but Microsoft 365 receives ongoing feature updates that Office 2024 does not. Office 2024 does not include Microsoft 365’s cloud-storage bundle or automatically confer subscription-based AI features.
“One-time purchase” is more precise than “lifetime license.” You must redeem and activate the product with a Microsoft account, and internet access is required for setup and periodic activation. It is not intended as a permanently disconnected installation. Microsoft lists Office 2024’s lifecycle start as October 1, 2024. Its lifecycle page displays October 10, 2029 at 6:59 a.m. PT as the retirement date, while its FAQ gives October 9, 2029 for Office 2024 for Mac and Office LTSC 2024. What is new in Office 2024?
Office 2024 brings a refreshed default theme and accessibility improvements, plus application-specific additions. Microsoft’s feature notes distinguish platforms and editions, so a feature documented for one version should not be assumed to appear in every Office 2024 app. See Microsoft’s Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024 feature list for the applicable details.

Office 2024 may suit you if you need the included desktop apps on one computer, prefer to pay once, and can do without bundled cloud storage and continual feature changes. Microsoft 365 may be the better fit if you use several devices, need storage or household sharing, or want current collaboration features and plan-specific AI capabilities. Compare the plan that actually includes the apps and services you need, not just the lowest advertised subscription tier. How to buy, install, and activate Office 2024
- Choose the edition. Select Home if you do not need Outlook; select Home & Business if you do.
- Check the seller and final price. Confirm the product, platform, one-device license, region, any discount eligibility, and checkout total. Prefer Microsoft or a reputable authorized retailer.
- Use the Microsoft account that should own the license. Keep the order confirmation and any product-key information supplied with the purchase.
- Find the purchase in your account. Open your Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions area and select the Office 2024 installation option.
- Install and activate. Run the installer, open Word or another included app, then sign in with the account used for the purchase and apply available updates.
Microsoft’s product page identifies the account area as the installation route. On Windows, Office 2024 uses Click-to-Run; on Mac, it uses Apple Package format.

What to check before installing
Microsoft’s Home & Business 2024 product page lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 and a recent macOS as compatible environments. Its published minimums for Windows include a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB RAM for 64-bit Windows or 2 GB for 32-bit Windows, 4 GB of free disk space, a 1024×768 display, and DirectX 10 graphics hardware acceleration. Its Mac minimums include 10 GB of free disk space and a 1280×800 display. Internet access and a Microsoft account are required. Check Microsoft’s current requirements for the exact Mac version before buying, since “recent macOS” changes over time.
Compatibility with Windows 10 does not mean that Windows 10 itself is still supported: Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Check the current Office and operating-system requirements before installing on that system.

If the license does not appear or activation fails
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase, then check Services & subscriptions.
- Confirm the product key, if one was provided, has been redeemed and that the purchased edition is listed on the account.
- Check internet access, system date and time, and operating-system compatibility.
- If another Office version is installed, check Microsoft’s installation guidance before changing or removing it; do not blindly install a second copy.
- If the entitlement is missing, contact Microsoft’s official installation or activation support. Avoid unofficial ISO downloads, activation scripts, or workarounds.
How to avoid a bad “20% off” deal
A discount is useful only if the license is genuine, redeemable in your country, and priced as advertised at checkout. Treat unusually cheap key-only listings cautiously: they may involve a region mismatch, a license intended for an organization, or a key that can later be revoked. Do not buy someone else’s Microsoft account or credentials. Before paying, confirm the edition, platform, seller, refund terms, country eligibility, and whether the offer is an automatic sale, code, bundle, or restricted benefit. A historical sale report, including October 2024 deal coverage, cannot establish a current offer.
If you only need basic document, spreadsheet, and presentation editing and do not depend on Microsoft-specific compatibility or Outlook, LibreOffice is a free alternative. It may not suit complex Excel workbooks, VBA, Outlook, Microsoft collaboration, or documents that must preserve exact Office formatting.
