The company confirmed the decision to news outlets, with Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw saying it had moved toward stories, videos and insights instead. As of October 8, 2026, Microsoft’s official reports page still lists its 2024 Global Diversity & Inclusion Report as the latest edition.
What Microsoft said about the 2025 report
On November 25, 2025, ESG Dive reported that Microsoft had confirmed it would not publish an updated version of its traditional annual diversity and inclusion report for 2025. WIRED reported the same explanation from Shaw. These are news reports quoting Microsoft, not a published Microsoft announcement of the decision. ESG Dive’s report and WIRED’s coverage describe the decision.
Shaw said Microsoft had evolved beyond a traditional report to formats he described as “more dynamic and accessible,” including stories, videos and insights that “show inclusion in action.” He also said the company’s mission and commitment to its culture and values remained unchanged. That is Microsoft’s stated position; it does not by itself establish what effect the format change has had on the company’s inclusion work.
Where to find Microsoft’s latest formal report
Microsoft’s annual report page lists the 2024 Global Diversity & Inclusion Report as the latest edition as of October 8, 2026, and links to earlier reports. Microsoft announced that report on October 23, 2024. The company’s then-Chief Diversity Officer and Corporate Vice President, Lindsay-Rae McIntyre, called it the sixth consecutive annual report and the eleventh year Microsoft had shared global workforce data. Microsoft’s 2024 announcement provides the report’s context and figures.

The absence of a 2025 edition does not establish that Microsoft ended all diversity and inclusion work. Nor do the available reports establish whether the newer stories, videos and insights provide consolidated workforce data comparable to the annual report.
What the 2024 report measured
The figures below are from Microsoft’s 2024 report announcement. They describe the 2024 report, not Microsoft’s workforce in 2025 or 2026. Microsoft distinguishes its “core” workforce from its broader business, so these figures should not be generalized beyond the population named in each measure.

|---|---|
| Women in the core workforce | 31.6% |
| Women in technical roles | 27.2% |
| Employees with disabilities who self-identified, global core workforce | 5.7% |
| Black and African American representation at Partner + Executive level in the core workforce | 4.3% |
| Hispanic and Latinx representation at Executive level in the core workforce | 4.6% |
These are historical disclosures from the 2024 report, not a substitute for a 2025 update. Microsoft’s announcement explains that “core” and the broader Microsoft business refer to different workforce scopes.

Microsoft’s explanation, as reported by ESG Dive and WIRED, is a change in reporting format. The available information does not independently establish a reason beyond the statement attributed to Shaw. It also does not show whether the alternative formats will offer the same year-over-year workforce measures or a single consolidated disclosure. The official report page is the place to check for a later formal edition; its current listing does not predict whether or when one may appear.
