A September 2015 PerthNow report said members of mining magnate Michael Wright’s family had bought homes and land in Western Australia using inherited wealth. It listed purchases by Leonie and Tim Baldock, Alexandra and Julian Burt, and Myles Wright. The prices below are figures reported at the time—not current valuations or proof of present-day ownership. Separately, Olivia Mead’s initial $25 million award in her will challenge was later reduced on appeal.
What properties did the 2015 report list?
PerthNow’s 23 September 2015 article described the following purchases and existing holdings. The locations and prices are attributed to that report.
| Family members | Reported purchases | Other holdings described in the report |
|---|---|---|
| Leonie and Tim Baldock | $3 million home on Stock Road, Attadale; $2.8 million house on Strome Road, Applecross | Leonie Baldock was reported to own properties in Margaret River, Cottesloe, Bayswater and Kardinya |
| Alexandra and Julian Burt | $350,000 block in Collingwood Park, Albany; $6.6 million home on View Street, Peppermint Grove; $3 million home on Johnston Street, Peppermint Grove | Properties in Cottesloe, Barberton near Moora, and Kardinya |
| Myles Wright | $3.1 million home on Louise Street, Nedlands | A property in South Perth |
PerthNow’s 2015 report described Myles as Michael Wright’s only son and said he had inherited $20 million. That inheritance figure, like the purchase prices and ownership descriptions above, is historical reporting rather than a current account of wealth or property holdings.
How much did Olivia Mead receive from the estate?
The same 2015 article reported that Olivia Mead, identified as Michael Wright’s daughter, had been awarded $25 million by Master Craig Sanderson in February after challenging her father’s will. It said the Wright estate intended to appeal. That was the initial award, not the final amount reported after the appeal process.

How did the appeal change the award?
2017: the WA Court of Appeal reduced it
In November 2017, The New Daily reported that the WA Court of Appeal reduced the award to $6,142,000, which it described as adequate provision for Mead’s future needs. The report said the provision would allow her to buy a Perth-area house valued at $1.5 million and receive an annuity of $100,000 for life. Those are figures reported in connection with the appeal, not current financial guidance.
The New Daily attributed this explanation to Court of Appeal President Michael Buss: “it was not the court’s role to make ‘what may appear … to be a fair distribution’ of Mr Wright’s estate among his children and other members of his family.” This wording is reproduced from secondary news coverage.

2018: the High Court appeal application was rejected
In August 2018, PerthNow reported that the High Court rejected Mead’s application for a further appeal. That ended this legal avenue to seek a larger award.
For the later chronology, see The New Daily’s 2017 appeal report, PerthNow’s 2018 report, and legal commentary on Lemon v Mead. A 2015 legal commentary discussed the first-instance award in light of the estate, Mead’s needs and other claimants; it is commentary, not a substitute for the judgment.

What the reported figures do—and do not—show
- They document purchases and holdings as described in a single PerthNow article published in September 2015.
- They do not establish today’s property values, whether the family still owns any property, or how the properties may have changed hands since publication.
- The $25 million figure was an initial award. The later reported appeal outcome was $6,142,000, and the High Court rejected a further appeal application in 2018.
