MGM Rewards’ 2025 program changes added cruise benefits with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, including an Annual Cruise Benefit for qualifying Gold members, tier-based Onboard FreePlay, and MGM Rewards earning on eligible onboard casino play. The headline amounts are not universal guarantees: tier qualification, booking type, sailing availability, deadlines, residency, and current offer terms determine what a member can use.
What MGM Rewards announced in 2025
On March 25, 2025, MGM Resorts announced changes spanning cruises, Marriott Bonvoy status matching, milestone rewards, rollover Tier Credits, and an eGift card. Its cruise announcements covered expanded stateroom and itinerary access for Platinum and NOIR members, a new Annual Cruise Benefit for Gold members, and tier-based Onboard FreePlay for qualifying cruises. MGM’s current program pages also list its Iconic World Elite Mastercard, which the March announcement described as “coming soon.” MGM’s current program-enhancements page is the better reference for present-day features; dated announcement details should not be treated as a guarantee of a current offer.
The March announcement also said Pearl members would match to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite, Gold to Gold Elite, Platinum would continue to match to Gold Elite, and NOIR to Ambassador Elite. MGM described those perks as available at over 10,000 global destinations; that was the figure in the March 2025 announcement, not an independently verified current destination count. The same release announced Milestone Rewards between tier levels and a 2025 rollover-credit promotion for the 2026 earning year. MGM’s March 25, 2025 announcement sets out those launch details.

Annual Cruise Benefit examples announced in June 2025
MGM’s June 10, 2025 announcement gave the following examples of Annual Cruise Benefit offers. “Up to” matters: these are announcement-era maximum examples, not a promise that every qualifying member can book the stated cabin, sailing length, or trade-in value today.

These offers are subject to exclusions, availability, and other conditions; an Annual Cruise Benefit is not an unconditional free cruise. Applicable taxes and fees, travel to and from the embarkation port, and itinerary restrictions can affect the total cost and value. The figures were published by MGM in its June 10, 2025 cruise announcement. Current partner terms restrict FreePlay and onboard credit to eligible MGM offer, certificate, group, or other specified bookings. Benefits are limited per qualifying member and sailing, are nontransferable, and must be requested during initial booking at least 10 days before departure. They cannot be redeemed for cash or used toward gratuities, taxes, or port fees. Verify the live terms for the particular offer.
Who qualifies for the Annual Cruise Benefit
MGM’s current partner terms distinguish an earned tier from a status match. To qualify for the Annual Cruise Benefit, members must earn the relevant status through gaming play and eligible spend at participating MGM Rewards destinations; a partnership tier match does not qualify. The benefit covers the qualifying member and one guest, subject to availability. The member generally must book during the applicable Tier Status Benefit Year, complete travel within three months after that period ends, be listed as the primary guest, and sail.

How casino play earns MGM Rewards while cruising
On eligible Royal Caribbean or Celebrity sailings, members can earn MGM Rewards Points, Tier Credits, and SLOT DOLLARS® for tracked onboard casino gaming. The current terms identify slots, video poker, and table games as eligible, subject to detailed currency rules. The member must provide their MGM Rewards number at booking and use their SeaPass card for tracked play. MGM says onboard gaming balances may take about 30–45 days to post.
