The Metallica M72 2023 single-day presales are over. Fifth Member fan-club members had to request an individual code; Citi cardmembers in the U.S. had a separate presale through Citi Entertainment. Metallica said other presales varied by city, so there was no verified universal Live Nation or Ticketmaster code for every show.
When did Metallica M72 2023 presales and general sale begin?
Metallica’s 2023 single-day ticket schedule began with the Fifth Member presale on Monday, January 16. The start time depended on region; general sale began Friday, January 20. These are historical dates, not active presale offers. Metallica’s January 11, 2023 announcement and its M72 World Tour FAQ give the schedule.
| Sale route | Eligibility and access | 2023 timing | Ticket limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fifth Member fan club | Members requested a personal presale code through their account; the code was emailed to the address on the profile and shown on the profile page. | January 16 at 9 a.m. local time in the U.S., Canada and Mexico; 10 a.m. local time in Europe. | Up to four tickets per show with a code; the FAQ also states a four-ticket-per-fan-per-city presale limit. |
| Citi Entertainment | U.S. Citi cardmembers; access was through Citi Entertainment. The announcement does not establish a universal reusable code. | January 16 at 2 p.m. local time. | Not stated in the cited announcement or FAQ as a separate Citi limit. |
| Other partner presales, including city-specific offers | Availability and instructions depended on the city and event listing; no universal Live Nation or Ticketmaster code is established. | Varied by city; not stated as one tour-wide time. | Not stated as a tour-wide partner limit. |
| General sale | Tickets went on sale to the public through the event’s ticketing listing. | January 20, 2023. | Six tickets per person, with some exceptions, according to Metallica’s FAQ. |
How did Fifth Member presale codes work?
The Fifth Member code was personal, not a public code to copy and share. Metallica’s 2022 FAQ said members needed to request a personal presale ticket code. For the 2023 sale, the code was sent to the email address on the member profile and displayed on the member profile page. Metallica’s current Presale Code help page describes the account’s Presale Codes section and email delivery after a member requests a code.
That process explains why lists of supposed universal “Fifth Member codes” are not a reliable route to access: each member requested their own code. Do not treat a code from a past sale as valid for a later event.

Was there a universal Live Nation or Ticketmaster code?
Metallica’s FAQ says additional presales depended on which cities fans planned to attend. The official 2023 information cited here does not identify one Live Nation or Ticketmaster code that worked for every M72 date, nor does it document all city-by-city offers. Check the relevant event listing for a specific show’s historical sale instructions rather than relying on a code from another city or an unverified code list.
What were the ticket limits?
Metallica’s 2023 FAQ states that a Fifth Member presale code could be used for up to four tickets per show and that presales were limited to four tickets per fan per city. The general-sale limit was six tickets per person, with some exceptions. These limits describe the 2023 sale and should not be assumed for later M72 events.

Are the 2023 codes still valid?
No. The January 2023 sale dates have passed, and those codes are not current offers. A Ticketmaster help page reviewed for M72 lists 2027 event information, which is a separate, later tour schedule—not a continuation of the 2023 presale. Consult the current event listing and official Metallica ticket information for any later show. Ticketmaster’s M72 Help page covers current event information.
