A TechAnnouncer article published April 3, 2025, names AppLovin, HubSpot, Blings, Sprout Social and Pipedrive as five “hottest” marketing-technology platforms and attributes the list to a McKinsey “Total Value Creation” (TVC) report. The page does not identify a McKinsey report, link to one, provide methodology or show a ranking table. Treat this as a 2025, use-case-oriented roundup—not a verified McKinsey ranking or a current 2026 league table.
The products also solve different problems: mobile advertising, CRM, personalized video, social operations and sales-pipeline management. The useful question is which job your organization needs done.

What the McKinsey TVC claim establishes—and what it does not
The matching article exists and says its five-company list came from McKinsey’s latest Total Value Creation report. “TVC” is expanded on the page as “Total Value Creation,” but the page supplies no report title, publication date, geographic scope, sample, scoring system, methodology, quotation or primary McKinsey URL.
That leaves several possibilities open: TVC could refer to a public report, a client engagement, an internal framework, a presentation or an incorrectly described source. The defensible statement is that TechAnnouncer’s April 2025 article attributes the list to McKinsey; the attribution cannot be independently verified from that page.
#1 Best Overall
The article also uses broad language about AI, engagement and return on investment without comparative tests, incremental-lift studies, customer results or cost-per-outcome data. Those are capabilities or promotional assertions, not proof that any platform delivers superior ROI.
The five platforms at a glance
| Platform | Main category | Best-fit job | Not primarily for |
|---|---|---|---|
| AppLovin | Mobile advertising and app monetization | App user acquisition and publisher monetization | General CRM or email automation |
| HubSpot | CRM, marketing, sales and service | Inbound and lifecycle marketing in an integrated system | Specialized mobile ad buying |
| Blings | Personalized video | Dynamic, data-driven video campaigns | General CRM or social management |
| Sprout Social | Social management and analytics | Multi-channel publishing, engagement and reporting | Full customer-data infrastructure |
| Pipedrive | Sales CRM and pipeline management | Visual deal tracking and sales execution | Comprehensive enterprise marketing and service |
AppLovin: mobile acquisition and monetization
The source presents AppLovin as a mobile advertising and app-monetization company. It associates the platform with AI-assisted campaign optimization, mobile user acquisition, real-time bidding, the AXON optimization technology and MAX mediation.
Who it suits
App developers, mobile-game publishers, app-growth teams and advertisers seeking users for mobile applications are the natural audience. A buyer should distinguish between acquiring users and monetizing an owned app; the economics, data and success metrics differ.

Questions before adoption
- Do you have enough conversion volume for algorithmic optimization to learn reliably?
- Can your analytics capture installs, retention, revenue and lifetime value under applicable privacy and attribution rules?
- Is the priority acquisition, ad monetization, retention or a combination?
AppLovin is not a general-purpose marketing-automation suite or sales CRM. Confirm current product names, integrations, commercial terms and attribution support at AppLovin’s official site.
HubSpot: an integrated CRM and marketing stack
According to the article, HubSpot combines CRM, marketing automation, email and content tools, sales functions, customer service, personalization, analytics and an app marketplace. Its modular structure is intended to let teams add functions around a shared customer record.
Who it suits
Small and midsize businesses, inbound-marketing teams and content-led organizations often want this breadth without assembling many point products.
Trade-offs to examine
- Compare the cost of multiple hubs, contacts and seats as usage grows.
- Check whether your data model, permissions, lifecycle stages, lead scoring and attribution requirements fit the platform.
- Assess migration, integration and data-governance work before treating “one platform” as a low-effort deployment.
An integrated suite can reduce tool sprawl, while a highly customized enterprise may prefer a more composable architecture or a larger enterprise suite. Current features and plan limits should be checked at HubSpot; August 2026 pricing was not established here.

The article describes Blings as a personalized-video platform. It says the service can insert user or business data into videos, create personalized variations, use a technology it calls “MP5 video,” connect AI tools through its studio and distribute videos through email, SMS, social media and websites.
Who it suits
Teams with a measurable use case—such as triggered customer communications, sales outreach or individualized lifecycle campaigns—may evaluate it.

Due diligence is essential
- Determine whether personalization is genuinely individualized or primarily template variation.
- Verify consent, data handling, rendering limits, integrations and usage charges.
- Measure incremental conversion or revenue, not merely video views or clicks.
- Estimate the creative, engineering and data-maintenance work at campaign scale.
Blings is the least independently contextualized entry in the source article: no comparative performance evidence, customer evidence, pricing or implementation detail is supplied there. Treat the “MP5” and AI descriptions as claims made by the article until confirmed in current documentation at Blings.
Sprout Social: social publishing, engagement and analytics
The source associates Sprout Social with cross-network publishing and scheduling, engagement management, social analytics, workflow automation, AI-assisted insights and integrations it describes as including OpenAI and Claude.

Checks for buyers
- Confirm support for the exact networks, account types and geography you operate.
- Decide whether you need publishing only, or also listening, customer care, advocacy and historical analytics.
- Test approval, permissions and agency-account workflows with real users.
- Judge AI features by whether they change decisions, not simply add another report.
A dedicated social platform does not replace a CRM, customer-data platform, marketing-automation system or complete advertising stack. A small business with one or two channels and little collaboration may find native tools sufficient. Review current capabilities and procurement options at Sprout Social.

The article presents Pipedrive as a sales-focused CRM for visual pipelines, lead and deal tracking, activity management, revenue forecasting, AI-assisted recommendations and integrations.
Who it suits
Small and midsize sales organizations that prioritize pipeline visibility, activity discipline and ease of adoption may prefer this focused approach.

Where it may not be enough
- Compare the required account, territory, product and revenue complexity with the platform’s model.
- Check how much marketing automation, customer service, billing and data-warehouse integration you need.
- Distinguish basic forecasting from enterprise requirements for governance, hierarchy and auditability.
A sales-first CRM can deploy faster than a broad suite, but additional tools may be needed for advanced marketing, service, commerce or enterprise data management. Check current plans and integrations at Pipedrive.
Choose by job to be done, not by a “hottest” ranking
| If your primary objective is… | Start with… | Validate… |
|---|---|---|
| Acquire mobile users or monetize app inventory | AppLovin | Attribution, privacy constraints, conversion volume and lifetime-value measurement |
| Run inbound marketing and lifecycle automation around a CRM | HubSpot | Data architecture, hub boundaries, seats, contacts and reporting depth |
| Deliver personalized video at scale | Blings | Consent, integrations, rendering economics and incremental lift |
| Coordinate social publishing, engagement and analytics | Sprout Social | Network coverage, approvals, listening and team governance |
| Improve sales-pipeline execution | Pipedrive | Forecasting, integrations, data complexity and marketing requirements |
These are use-case matches, not evidence that one company is objectively the market leader. The products are not direct substitutes, and platform-reported engagement or attributed conversions are not the same as incremental revenue, customer lifetime value or return on total marketing investment.
Buyer’s checklist
- Define the outcome: installs, retention, monetization, qualified leads, pipeline, video conversion or social response.
- Map the existing stack: CRM, analytics, ad networks, content systems, support, billing and data warehouse.
- List data requirements: events, identifiers, consent, lifecycle fields, audiences and export needs.
- Specify users and governance: seats, roles, approvals, agency access, audit trails and regional controls.
- Estimate total cost: subscription, seats, contacts, usage, advertising spend, creative, integrations, implementation and agency support.
- Run a bounded pilot: set a baseline, success metric, time period and stop condition before signing a large contract.
- Check portability: confirm API access, export formats, cancellation terms and ownership of customer and campaign data.
- Verify current terms: feature names, availability, plan limits and pricing can change; obtain written details for your region and edition.
Bottom line on the alleged McKinsey list
The five-platform list is real as a TechAnnouncer article dated April 3, 2025. Its claim that McKinsey identified the companies in a TVC report is not demonstrated by the page because no underlying report or methodology is supplied. Read the list as a set of different tools organized around different marketing jobs—not as a verified McKinsey endorsement or a definitive 2026 ranking.
