What was the U.S. release date?
The U.S. promotion was reported to have begun August 20, 2024, at participating McDonald’s restaurants. The partners’ May 14 announcement had forecast a U.S. and Puerto Rico rollout in summer 2024, but did not give a specific U.S. launch day. The August date comes from ComicBook.com’s report published on the launch date.
This was a time-limited Happy Meal promotion, not an announced permanent toy range. The partner announcement described a rollout across 55 countries, beginning in Europe in spring 2024; McDonald’s Australia separately announced nationwide availability there from May 16, while stocks lasted. Those dates describe regional launches, not U.S. availability.

Why do some lists show ten toys instead of nine?
The May 14, 2024 Konami Cross Media NY announcement lists ten global designs, adding Badtz-maru x Red-Eyes Black Dragon to the nine pairings named in U.S. coverage. The Yu-Gi-Oh! official news page also covers the collaboration and rollout. The sources do not explain why the global list and U.S.-reported plush count differ, so the additional global design should not be treated as confirmed in the U.S. set.

Is the promotion still available?
The 2024 announcements describe a limited-time promotion, and the Australian announcement explicitly says availability was while stocks lasted. They do not establish whether any U.S. restaurant still has toys, nor do they verify current resale inventory, prices, seller reliability, or whether a complete set is available. For a secondhand listing, check the specific character, condition, whether all pieces are included, seller details, and whether original packaging comes with it.

What the partners said about the collaboration
In the May 14 announcement, Jennifer Coleman, Konami Cross Media NY’s vice president of licensing and marketing, said the promotion would create a “must have for Anime fans of all ages.” Sanrio senior vice president of marketing and brand management Jill Koch described the toys as “limited-edition collectibles.” Those statements reflect the partners’ positioning; they do not establish current availability or collector value.
