The report says those burgers contain no artificial preservatives, artificial flavors, or added colors from artificial sources. What should customers know about pickles?
The Scripps report says the pickles still contain an artificial preservative and that customers may ask for their burger without pickles. That qualification matters: the reported claim is not simply “no preservatives” across every ingredient.
Is this the same as the German Big Mac recipe update?
No. McDonald’s Deutschland announced a separate set of classic-burger recipe and preparation adjustments on July 18, 2023. Its release described fluffier buns, adjusted beef-patty preparation, more Big Mac sauce, onions placed directly on grilled patties, reduced lettuce holding time, and tempered cheese. Those details apply to the German announcement; they do not establish that the same changes took place in U.S. restaurants at the same time.
