Mattel said in November 2024 that some Wicked dolls had a packaging misprint: the printed web address was not the film’s intended landing page. If you have one, Mattel advised discarding the packaging or covering the link, and contacting its customer service for more information. The company later said corrected-packaging dolls had returned to stores, but that does not verify the packaging of every doll still in circulation or listed for sale.
What was wrong with the Wicked doll packaging?
The boxes for Glinda and Elphaba dolls in Mattel’s Wicked collection mistakenly printed an adult website address instead of the film’s official landing page, WickedMovie.com. The collection was reported as primarily sold in the United States. Mattel described the address as a misprint and said the printed website was not appropriate for children. The Guardian reported the company’s statement on November 10, 2024; The Associated Press also reported the error.
What should you do if you have one?
Mattel advised owners to discard the product packaging or obscure the printed link. It also said consumers could contact Mattel Customer Service for further information. These were the company’s stated steps; the reports do not describe a formal recall or a required return process. The Guardian reproduced Mattel’s advice.
Did Mattel pull the dolls from stores?
Some retailers’ listings appeared unavailable, and contemporary reporting described dolls being removed by some retailers during the initial response. That does not establish how many dolls were affected or prove that all unsold store inventory was removed. The Associated Press reported that Mattel did not confirm whether its immediate action included removing unsold stock from stores. Read the Associated Press account.

Were corrected-packaging dolls later sold?
In December 2024, Mattel told the Los Angeles Times that the dolls had returned to online and physical retailers with correct packaging. That report describes the company’s statement at that time; it does not establish the print status of every remaining unit or any present-day retail listing. If packaging matters to your decision, ask the retailer or Mattel to confirm the specific unit. The Los Angeles Times reported the return.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Holly Ricketson filed a class action in federal court in the Central District of California in December 2024. The reported claims about a child’s exposure and resulting harm were allegations in the complaint, not court findings. The cited report does not establish a later ruling or other case outcome.
