Historical deal alert: The $749.99 MacBook Air price was reported during early Black Friday 2025—not as a confirmed September 2026 promotion. The offer applied to Amazon’s 13-inch MacBook Air with the M4 chip and 256GB of storage. Availability and pricing may have changed.
MacRumors reported the laptop at $749.99 on November 5, 2025, down from a reported $999 price. That was a $249 reduction, or about 25%.

Was it an unusually good discount?
At the time, yes. MacRumors described $749.99 as a new all-time low for that specific 13-inch, 256GB configuration and said it was about $50 below the previous low. That is a contemporaneous price-tracking claim, not proof that $749.99 remains the lowest price ever.

A November 16, 2025 follow-up repeated the $749.99 13-inch price and the $949.99 15-inch price. Reader discussion about a possible $699 price was speculation, not evidence that such a discount occurred.
Why the configuration matters
The headline price was for the base 256GB model. It did not automatically apply to every MacBook Air size, color, storage tier, or memory configuration. MacRumors also noted discounts on various 512GB models, but did not provide a complete price table for every version.

For light web browsing, documents, video calls, streaming, and typical school or office work, 256GB may be adequate. It can become restrictive for large photo or video libraries, games, development environments, virtual machines, or years of locally stored files. Internal storage cannot be upgraded after purchase. An external SSD or cloud storage can help, but both add cost and inconvenience.

13-inch versus 15-inch: is the extra $200 worthwhile?
The reported 15-inch model cost $200 more than the 13-inch deal. The premium primarily makes sense for buyers who value screen area: people working with spreadsheets, long documents, code, or two windows side by side. The 13-inch model is the better fit for commuters, students carrying a laptop between classes, and shoppers focused on minimizing the purchase price.
Do not assume the larger model delivers proportionally more performance simply because it costs more. Choose the 15-inch version for its workspace, not because the deal necessarily represents a better performance-per-dollar value.

- The exact model, chip, memory, screen size, and storage match your needs.
- The live price is at or near your target budget.
- You need the laptop before the holiday season.
- The seller, condition, warranty, delivery date, and return terms are clear.
- You are comfortable buying before a possible later promotion in exchange for securing stock or a preferred color.
Wait when:
- You do not need the laptop soon.
- The discount is modest compared with recent price history.
- You specifically need 512GB or more memory and the base model is a compromise.
- A newer generation may offer meaningful improvements in connectivity, support life, or other features.
- The retailer has unfavorable return or price-adjustment terms.
Waiting may produce a lower price, but no further reduction is guaranteed. “Early Black Friday” also does not mean the offer was available on the official Black Friday date.

Who should consider this type of deal?
- Students and general users: The 13-inch base configuration can be attractive when portability and upfront cost matter most.
- Office and web users: It may cover documents, browsers, video meetings, and everyday productivity without paying for unused capacity.
- Travelers: The smaller model is easier to carry than a larger-screen alternative.
- Large-screen buyers: Consider the 15-inch model if split-screen work will improve productivity enough to justify the premium.
- Power users: Compare higher-storage and higher-memory versions instead of treating the base deal as automatically suitable.
What to check before ordering
- Confirm that the chip is M4 rather than an older or different generation.
- Confirm 13-inch versus 15-inch screen size.
- Confirm 256GB versus 512GB storage.
- Confirm the memory capacity.
- Check whether the seller is Amazon, another retailer, or a marketplace seller.
- Verify that the item is new, not refurbished, open-box, or used.
- Check color and keyboard layout if those matter to you.
- Review stock status and the promised delivery date.
- Read the return window, restocking rules, and warranty information.
- Make sure the price does not require a membership, coupon, student status, trade-in, or financing offer.
- Check the final checkout total, including shipping and taxes.
- Save a screenshot or receipt showing the exact configuration and price.
- Compare the same configuration at Apple or another reputable retailer if easier returns or support justify a slightly higher price.
Alternatives worth comparing
A current-generation 13-inch MacBook Air may be preferable if its price is close to the historical M4 deal or if its newer features matter more than the discount. A 15-inch model is the natural alternative for screen space. A 512GB version may reduce the likelihood of paying later for external or cloud storage.
Buyers willing to forgo a new retail unit can also review Apple Certified Refurbished Mac inventory. That can be a warranty-conscious way to lower the cost, although inventory and discounts vary. Windows ultraportables may be better value for people who need Windows-only software, more ports, user-upgradable components, or a lower starting price.
Bottom line for shoppers
The reported $749.99 price was compelling for a specific product: the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air with 256GB storage during Black Friday 2025. It was not a blanket price for all MacBook Air models, and the available evidence does not confirm it as an active September 2026 deal. Treat any current listing at $749.99 as unverified until you confirm the exact configuration, seller, condition, and checkout terms.
For a portable everyday laptop, that historical price was strong. For buyers with large local libraries, demanding workloads, or a preference for the newest available generation, the cheapest MacBook Air may be a false economy.
