How did the clockmaker develop?
Founded in 1839, the company’s history began with watch components and music boxes. It later made carriage clocks before focusing on exclusive clocks. The Federation described the maison as having 185 years of expertise in its 2024 account.
Its work has also extended to collaborations with other LVMH maisons. Tiffany presented a carriage clock shaped like a 1950s Formula 1 car, while Louis Vuitton commissioned a hot-air-balloon clock, according to the Federation.

What does L’Epée’s place in LVMH mean?
The acquisition brought specialist clockmaking, mechanical expertise and design into a group with luxury maisons across several categories. That is a reasonable description of the capability added; the cited company reporting does not set out a more detailed strategic rationale or specific integration plan.
LVMH’s reporting indicates that the maison has continued creating within the group: its 2025 Universal Registration Document records L’Epée revisiting the Swiss cuckoo clock. This provides evidence of ongoing creative activity, but not a fuller account of how the business is being integrated.
