Luis Figo Net Worth: What His Reported €20–€50 Million Means

The strongest public figure for Luis Figo is his reported €20 million to €50 million bank balance in 2024—not an audited estimate of his net worth.

Luis Figo said he had between €20 million and €50 million in the bank, according to Forbes Portugal’s report of his December 2024 appearance on Spain’s La Revuelta. That is the clearest attributable public figure—but it describes money he said was in the bank, not an independently verified calculation of his total net worth.

What is Luis Figo’s net worth?

No independently verified current net-worth figure is established by the available reporting. The strongest attributable figure is Figo’s reported statement that he had €20 million to €50 million in the bank in December 2024. Forbes Portugal reported the exchange after David Broncano asked him, “Quanto dinheiro tens no banco?”—“How much money do you have in the bank?”

Figo reportedly answered, “Tenho mais do que tu imaginas e menos do que eu queria” (“I have more than you imagine and less than I would like”), then gave the range: “Tenho entre 20 a 50 milhões de euros no banco” (“I have between 20 and 50 million euros in the bank”). Forbes Portugal reported the remarks; they should be treated as a self-reported bank-balance range, not an audited net-worth estimate.

Why a bank balance is not the same as net worth

Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities. Money in a bank account is only one possible part of that calculation. A complete estimate would also need reliable valuations for investments, property, business interests and other assets, as well as debts and other liabilities.

The reported exchange does not provide that accounting. A February 2026 El Español profile also discusses the range as an estimate of Figo’s fortune, but traces it back to the same television statement rather than supplying an independent valuation. Its account does not establish a full asset-and-liability total.

What is known about Figo’s business interests?

Figo has said he prepared for life beyond football rather than relying only on his playing income. In an April 2024 interview, he described interests spanning food, hospitality, technology, real estate and minerals. He told Forbes Portugal: “Sempre gostei de produzir. Sempre gostei de negócios. Sempre gostei de ser uma pessoa empreendedora, de experimentar, de diversificar”—that he has always liked producing, business, entrepreneurship, experimenting and diversifying.

The interview gives context for his business activity, but it does not disclose audited valuations for those holdings or quantify their contribution to his wealth.

How his football career fits into the picture

Figo played for Sporting CP, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan. UEFA records that he won the Ballon d’Or in 2000 and FIFA World Player of the Year in 2001, and made 127 appearances for Portugal. Those milestones help explain his profile and earning potential, but they do not establish his present net worth. UEFA’s biography summarizes his career and honours.

His move from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000 was reported as a €60 million transfer. That was a fee paid between clubs, not money paid to Figo personally, so it cannot be added to his personal fortune. In a 2022 interview with Sid Lowe, Figo said: “I’d like more value given to my whole career than one episode that marks an age and altered the market, the philosophy of football.” The Guardian covered the transfer and his reflections on it.

What the public figures do—and do not—show

Figure What it refers to What it does not establish
€20 million to €50 million Figo’s reported answer about money in the bank on La Revuelta, as reported by Forbes Portugal in December 2024. An audited balance, total assets, liabilities or verified net worth.
€60 million The reported fee for Figo’s 2000 transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid, as described by The Guardian in 2022. Figo’s personal earnings or a sum to add to his fortune.

These figures measure different things and are not competing net-worth estimates. The sources do not establish a quantified breakdown of career earnings, image-related income, business holdings or investments.
