Lucid and Tesla are not direct substitutes across their entire lineups. Lucid’s U.S. range centers on the luxury Air sedan and Gravity SUV; Tesla’s current comparison page features Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. For a useful buying decision, compare vehicles by body style and trim, then line up the actual price, range, charging access, and ownership costs—not brand reputation alone.
Lucid vs. Tesla: which is better?
Neither brand is categorically better on the evidence available here. Lucid’s clearest strengths in its published figures are the Air’s long EPA-estimated range and Gravity’s range and fast-charging claims. Tesla’s Model 3 page lays out variant-specific range, acceleration, charging, and warranty details. Those are different kinds of advantages, and neither establishes which car is more comfortable, reliable, economical to repair, or better to own.
The official lineups also do not map perfectly onto one another. Lucid lists Air and Gravity families, with 2026 and 2027 model-year versions on its U.S. comparison page; Tesla’s comparison page presents Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. The pages do not establish exact cross-brand equivalents. Start with the kind of vehicle you need—sedan, SUV, or pickup—and compare specific trims rather than treating a brand as one product.
How do Lucid Air and Tesla Model 3 compare?
Both are sedans, but the available official information does not support a complete, trim-by-trim head-to-head. Lucid’s announced 2026 Air figures span three trims: Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring. Tesla’s current Model 3 page lists rear-wheel-drive, Premium, and Performance variants and provides variant-level specifications. The differences in price presentation and the lack of matched equipment details mean those figures should not be read as a simple value ranking.

Lucid Air prices and range
In its July 22, 2025 announcement, Lucid listed U.S. starting prices for the 2026 Air of $70,900 for Pure, $79,900 for Touring, and $114,900 for Grand Touring. The same release gives the Touring an EPA-estimated 431 miles of range and the Grand Touring up to 512 miles. Lucid’s 2025 Form 10-K reports 420 miles EPA-estimated for the 2026 Air Pure with 19-inch wheels. These are manufacturer figures tied to the specified model year and configuration; Lucid says range varies with configuration and conditions. See the 2026 Air announcement and the 2025 Form 10-K.
Tesla Model 3 price and specifications
Tesla’s Model 3 page shows multiple variants and publishes range, acceleration, charging, and warranty details. Its displayed starting price is location-specific: the page used for this comparison showed Massachusetts pricing and notes that some fees are excluded. That is not directly comparable with Lucid’s U.S.-wide trim starting prices. For a real quote, select the same delivery location and model year, then account for destination and order fees, taxes, incentives, and financing separately. Check the live Model 3 page because configurations and displayed prices can change.

How do Lucid Gravity and Tesla Model Y compare?
Gravity is the Lucid family to consider if you need an SUV with up to three rows: Lucid describes it as seating up to seven. Its published range figure is configuration-specific. Lucid says the Gravity Grand Touring has up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range in a two-row, five-seat configuration with specified wheels. The company’s April 15, 2025 launch announcement also claimed that 200 miles of range could be added in less than 11 minutes under stated charging and configuration conditions. That is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of typical charging time or a result that applies to every Gravity trim or charger. Details are in Lucid’s Gravity announcement.
Tesla’s comparison page includes Model Y, but the available official figures here do not establish a current, like-for-like Model Y price and specification comparison against Gravity. Compare current trim-level seat and cargo layouts, range, equipment, and out-the-door price in the configurators. Do not infer that the two SUVs have the same size, seating configuration, or capability simply because both are SUVs.

- WORKS WITH EVERY TESLA + OTHER EVs: Built-in Tesla-style plug (NACS standard) connects directly to Tesla Model S, 3, X and Y - and any EV with a NACS port - no adapter needed. The plug even has a button to pop open your Tesla’s charge port. Non-Tesla J1772 vehicles can charge with a NACS-to-J1772 adapter (not included). The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway.
- HARDWIRED - PROFESSIONAL INSTALL: This Level 2 charger is hardwired (not plug-in), so a licensed electrician installs it per National Electrical Code. It delivers up to 48A on a dedicated 60A, 240V circuit - enough to charge most EVs fully overnight. Want more speed? Your can set DIP switches 4 and 5 to unlock 50A on a dedicated 70A circuit. Before ordering, check your car’s port type and that your electrical panel can support the circuit.
- CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start and stop charging, set the charging speed (6-48A), get reminders, and track how much energy and money each charge uses. Requires a 2.4 GHz home WiFi network.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
What should you compare before looking at the price?
Vehicle price is only one part of the ownership decision. The right comparison depends on the exact configuration and how you will use the car.
- Match the vehicle role. Compare sedan with sedan or SUV with SUV, then check seat count, passenger space, and cargo needs.
- Align the quote. Use the same country, delivery location, model year, and trim. Include destination and order fees, taxes, incentives, and financing assumptions. The Lucid Air starting prices above come from a July 2025 announcement; recheck current live configurators.
- Compare range on equal terms. Use the EPA estimate for the specific trim and wheel setup. Weather, speed, temperature, and driving conditions affect real-world range; neither published estimate is a promise of a particular trip distance.
- Check charging logistics. Confirm connector type, network compatibility, adapter needs, station capability, and the charging rate you can actually use.
- Price ownership beyond the window sticker. Check insurance quotes, home-charging costs, service access, repair logistics, warranty coverage, and resale assumptions. The official information cited here does not provide a matched Lucid-versus-Tesla comparison for those costs.
- Treat performance and cabin claims as specifications, not a road test. Acceleration figures and seating capacity can help narrow choices, but they do not establish ride comfort, build quality, or driver-assistance performance in everyday use.
Can a Lucid charge at Tesla Superchargers?
Lucid’s July 2025 announcement says Air owners can use compatible Tesla Superchargers with a Lucid-approved DC NACS-to-CCS1 adapter at compatible V3 and newer stations. Lucid gave a charging rate of up to 50 kW for this setup, and said drivers could initiate charging through the Lucid app with a payment card saved in Lucid Wallet. The announcement listed the adapter at $220 in the U.S. before taxes; verify current price, availability, station compatibility, and instructions before relying on that figure.

Lucid says Gravity has a built-in NACS port. That is a connector distinction, not a promise that every Tesla charging location or every charging rate will be available to every vehicle. Station compatibility and charging conditions still matter. See Lucid’s Air and Supercharger announcement and Gravity announcement for the company’s stated details.
Home charging details for the 2026 Air
Lucid says the 2026 Air includes a 40-amp mobile charging cable kit with NEMA 14-50 and NEMA 5-15 adapters. The company estimates that a 240-volt, 40-amp setup provides 9.6 kW and up to 40 miles of range per hour; a 120-volt, 12-amp setup provides 1.4 kW and up to four miles per hour. These are manufacturer estimates and depend on vehicle and charging conditions, not guaranteed rates for every home outlet.

What do the published figures say about Lucid as a company?
Company scale may matter to buyers considering a newer luxury-car brand, but financial figures cannot predict an individual owner’s service experience, resale value, or Lucid’s future health. In its February 24, 2026 release, Lucid reported 15,841 vehicle deliveries and $1,353.8 million in revenue for 2025, plus approximately $4.6 billion in total liquidity at year-end. Lucid separately revised its reported 2025 production to 17,840 after identifying vehicles that had not completed internal validation procedures; production and deliveries are different measures. These are company-reported figures, not independent assessments. See the 2025 results release.
Lucid’s 2025 Form 10-K also described a plan for a midsize platform, with production scheduled to start in late 2026 as stated in that filing. A planned start date is not confirmation that production began on schedule.
How to make the decision
Shortlist a specific Lucid and Tesla trim that meets your passenger and cargo needs, then verify its live price and equipment. Compare EPA range for the exact wheel configuration, map the charging options you would actually use, and obtain insurance and financing quotes. If the difference between the finalists depends on ride, cabin feel, or driver assistance, arrange a test drive: the manufacturer specifications cited here cannot settle those questions. There is no standardized, independent head-to-head test in the cited material, nor matched data on repair costs, depreciation, or service wait times.
