Louis Vuitton said an unauthorized third party accessed its UK operation’s systems on 2 July 2025 and obtained some customer data, including names, contact details and purchase history. The company said financial data such as bank details was not compromised. Its customer notice also warned that phishing and fraud attempts could follow.
What happened, and when?
The reported access took place on 2 July 2025. The incident became public through news reports on 11 July. The affected operation was Louis Vuitton’s UK business; the reporting does not establish that every LVMH brand or group system was affected. The Guardian’s 11 July report and Bloomberg’s report described the date and incident.

Louis Vuitton UK Limited identifies itself as the UK controller for the processing described on its UK legal and privacy page. That page describes ordinary ways customer information may be collected, including purchases, account sign-up, returns, repairs, events and in-store interactions. It is not a full inventory of the information involved in this incident.
What did Louis Vuitton say about misuse and fraud?
The customer email, quoted by The Guardian, said: “While we have no evidence that your data has been misused to date, phishing attempts, fraud attempts, or unauthorised use of your information may occur.” The phrase “to date” reflects what the company said it knew when it sent the notice; it does not show that misuse never happened later. The Guardian also reported the notice’s warning about phishing and fraud.
Because names, contact details and purchase history were reportedly exposed, a message that references a real purchase or personal detail could appear convincing. Treat unexpected requests for payment, passwords, verification codes or account changes with caution. Contact Louis Vuitton through a channel you locate independently rather than using a link or phone number in a suspicious message.

LVMH’s 2024 Universal Registration Document discusses cyber risks at group level, including targeted attacks, internal breaches, accidental exposure and third-party risks, as well as examples of safeguards such as network segmentation and backup protection. That general context does not explain the cause or controls involved in this UK incident.
