Loopie said Bidbud’s job-bidding software could strengthen its marketplace, but the announced integration’s outcome is not established. Here’s how the deal fits with Loopie’s later laundry-business changes.

Loopie announced on March 4, 2024, that it had acquired Bidbud, a platform where clients posted work and freelancers or service providers bid for it. Loopie said it planned to use Bidbud’s bidding software to improve its marketplace, including for laundry requests and potentially other services. That was an announced plan, not confirmation that a completed integration reached customers.

What did Bidbud do?

Bidbud was a gig-economy platform built around bidding: a client posted an opportunity, and service providers or freelancers could submit bids to do the work. GeekWire reported that James Fakhoury and Elias Salmo founded the company in 2019. GeekWire’s March 4, 2024 report describes the platform and its founders.

Why did Loopie acquire a job-bidding platform?

Loopie connected laundry customers with people who handled washing and delivery; Bidbud offered software for posting work and receiving bids. Loopie’s announcement said Bidbud’s bidding and auction-management capabilities could strengthen how its marketplace handled service requests and fulfillment. It also described ambitions beyond laundry, so the rationale was broader than adding a bidding feature solely for laundry customers. Loopie’s March 4 announcement set out that intended use.

Loopie CEO John Lee said the company welcomed Bidbud’s team and leaders, James Fakhoury and Elias Salmo, “to help us continue to innovate in new arenas of everyday life.” Bidbud CEO and co-founder Fakhoury said its mission was “to streamline and enrich the gig-economy marketplace experience through technology.” These statements explain the companies’ stated aims; they do not establish what features were subsequently launched.

What is known about the acquisition and Loopie’s later operations?

Date What happened
July 2018 GeekWire reported that Loopie launched.
2019 GeekWire reported that Bidbud was founded by James Fakhoury and Elias Salmo.
March 4, 2024 Loopie announced its acquisition of Bidbud and said it intended to integrate the platform’s capabilities into its marketplace.
May 22, 2024 GeekWire reported that Loopie sold its Seattle laundry operations to Rinse and transferred its Portland customer list to HappyNest. CEO John Lee said Loopie retained its intellectual property, software, and branding.

The May 2024 transaction changed where Seattle and Portland laundry customers were served; it does not, by itself, show that Loopie sold Bidbud’s software or abandoned the acquisition. GeekWire reported that Loopie had facilitated close to $3.5 million in laundry orders since its inception, citing Lee. That is a historical order-volume figure, not revenue. Its March 2024 acquisition report also said Loopie had raised $4 million to date; that is a historical financing figure, not a current funding total. GeekWire’s May 22, 2024 follow-up covers the operational transfers and attributed order figure; its March 4 acquisition report gives the financing figure.

Did Loopie integrate Bidbud’s technology?

The available announcements and reporting establish the acquisition and Loopie’s intended use for the technology, but do not establish that the integration was completed, what specific features shipped, or whether Bidbud continued operating independently. Loopie’s current LinkedIn profile describes a pivot from on-demand laundry to business consulting and identifies Feedback Loop as an AI-powered CCTV-insights offering; that is the company’s own profile description, not independent confirmation of Bidbud’s status or integration. Loopie’s LinkedIn company profile may change over time.
