The contract’s cumulative value could exceed $1.7 billion only if options are exercised; that figure is not the amount newly awarded or immediately obligated. The Navy is committing $1 million at the time of the reported action.
What the Navy award covers
Kayode Crown’s October 6, 2026 report says the Pentagon finalized the modification on September 30 for ongoing production of AN/SLQ-32(V)6 systems for U.S. Navy ships. The report attributes the terms to a Pentagon notice and names Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., as the contracting command. Yahoo Finance’s October 6 report says Lockheed Martin is the producer.
The reported $209 million is the modification amount, while the Navy’s immediate commitment is $1 million. These are distinct figures: the report does not say the Navy obligated the entire modification amount at award.
Why the $1.7 billion figure is conditional
The report says exercising options could raise the cumulative contract value above $1.7 billion. Options are not automatic funding: the potential total depends on the Navy choosing to exercise them. The report does not establish an exact cumulative contract value, so “above $1.7 billion” should be understood as a conditional threshold rather than a confirmed final total.

Work locations and expected schedule
The reported workshare assigns 78% of the work to Liverpool, New York, and 22% to Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Completion is expected by September 2029. These figures describe the current modification as reported, not a guarantee that every task or option will follow the same schedule.
What the AN/SLQ-32(V)6 does
The system is a shipboard electronic warfare system. According to Lockheed Martin’s description cited in the October 2026 report, it analyzes its environment to provide early detection, analysis, threat warning, and protection from anti-ship missiles. This is a company-attributed description; the cited report did not point to a current official Navy product page.

Earlier program action is separate
A September 27, 2024 Department of War contract notice records a separate $15,216,002 modification to contract N00024-20-C-5503 for provisioned spares supporting full-rate production of AN/SLQ-32(V)6 and AN/SLQ-32C(V)6 systems. That earlier spares action provides program context; it is not part of the 2026 $209 million modification described in the October report.
