LIV Golf moved its player commitment deadline for the proposed LIV 2.0 restructuring from October 13 to October 25, 2026, while BC Partners made an initial commitment toward a targeted $300 million financing plan. The October 6 reports described conditional progress, not fully funded financing or a confirmed 2027 season: court approval and player commitments were still unresolved.
What changed in the LIV 2.0 proposal?
The extension gives players 12 more days to commit to the proposed restructuring. Golfweek reported that BC Partners, a London-based private-equity firm, had made an initial financial commitment as part of a targeted $300 million investment intended to help LIV Golf find financial footing. The target was not confirmation that the full amount had been funded.
The dates describe the player commitment schedule, not a final launch decision: the reported deadline was October 13 before LIV moved it to October 25. The proposal links player commitments to whether the league can continue under the financing arrangement.
How does the amended player commitment standard differ?
GOLF.com reported that an amended restructuring support agreement filed in LIV’s bankruptcy case changed the definition of the “requisite number of players.” The earlier formula specified both a commitment from 50 percent of players with financial claims and commitments representing at least two-thirds of the amount owed to players. The amended language instead describes the number “necessary to ensure the continuation of the Company Parties’ business as a bona fide golf league,” with BC Partners determining whether the commitments suffice.

That change makes the commitment test less about meeting the earlier stated numerical thresholds and more about whether the investor considers participation sufficient to continue the business. It does not establish how many players ultimately committed or how BC Partners would apply the standard.
What are the proposed financing and ownership terms?
| Item | What was reported by October 6, 2026 | Status |

What still required approval?
GOLF.com reported that the restructuring support agreement still required bankruptcy court approval at a hearing scheduled for October 14. LIV’s official future page said the league intended to resume global team-based competition in 2027, subject to court and relevant stakeholder approval. That was an intention, not an assured schedule.
BC Partners Credit head Ted Goldthorpe described the investor’s aim as helping LIV emerge from restructuring on sound financial footing and with momentum toward the 2027 season. His statement expressed BC Partners’ goal; it was not a guarantee that the financing, restructuring or season would proceed.

LIV CEO Scott O’Neil characterized the proposal as progress toward a player-owned, team-focused global league, while acknowledging that work remained. That is the league’s framing of its proposed plan, not evidence that the plan had been finalized.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What was not yet known on October 6?
- Whether the court approved the restructuring support agreement at the scheduled October 14 hearing.
- Whether enough players committed by the October 25 deadline.
- The final financing amount or whether the $300 million target was met.
- Whether the proposed player ownership terms became final.
- Whether LIV launched the proposed 2027 season.
The reports available on October 6 did not establish any of those outcomes. Because the financing and player commitments were still part of an active bankruptcy process, the announced steps should be read as conditional rather than a completed rescue.
