Littelfuse completed its acquisition of Carling Technologies on November 30, 2021, buying all of Carling’s outstanding equity. Littelfuse announced a cash purchase price of $315 million, subject to a working-capital adjustment; it later reported a $315.5 million purchase price in annual-report materials.
When did Littelfuse complete the Carling acquisition?
The transaction closed on November 30, 2021. Littelfuse acquired all outstanding equity in Carling Technologies, making Carling part of Littelfuse rather than entering a limited product or licensing agreement. Littelfuse’s completion announcement and its 2021 SEC filing document the closing.
How much did Littelfuse pay?
Littelfuse announced a $315 million cash purchase price, subject to a working-capital adjustment. Its annual-report materials later listed a purchase price of $315.5 million. The figures describe the announced amount and the later reported purchase price, respectively; they should not be treated as identical. The completion release, the 2021 SEC filing and Littelfuse’s 2025 annual report materials provide the respective figures.
What did Carling Technologies make?
Carling supplied switching, circuit-protection and power-distribution technologies. Its products included switches, power-distribution units and circuit breakers. These products served commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, construction and agricultural equipment, marine systems, and datacom and telecom infrastructure. Why did Littelfuse acquire Carling?
The deal expanded Littelfuse’s reach in commercial vehicles and added products and expertise across switching, controls and power distribution. Littelfuse said the combination “more than doubles the size of our commercial vehicle business.” Management also pointed to expanded engineering, design and test capabilities, including software and firmware applications, as well as broader relationships with original-equipment manufacturers and distributors.
At the time of the transaction, Littelfuse cited approximately $170 million in annualized Carling sales. Its 2021 investor presentation put Carling’s workforce at approximately 2,800 employees. These are figures reported around the acquisition, not current operating totals. Dave Lesperance, Littelfuse’s vice president and general manager of its Commercial Vehicle Business, said the combination “significantly expands our technologies and capabilities, enabling critical scale.” The completion announcement and the investor presentation set out the company’s rationale.

What does the acquisition mean for marine and commercial-vehicle parts?
Carling’s products became part of Littelfuse’s broader portfolio, adding options in switches, circuit breakers and power distribution for markets that include marine systems and commercial vehicles. Littelfuse reported Carling operations within its Transportation segment. The acquisition explains the corporate relationship; it does not, by itself, establish that a particular product remains available, unchanged, or compatible with a specific system. Littelfuse’s annual-report materials describe Carling within the Transportation segment.

The acquisition announcement and annual-report materials establish Carling’s product history and its place within Littelfuse, but they do not confirm current stock or availability for individual circuit-breaker models. For a specific replacement, check Littelfuse’s current product information or contact a distributor, and verify the exact part number, electrical ratings, dimensions and mounting requirements against the equipment manufacturer’s specifications. Do not assume that a similarly named breaker is an interchangeable replacement.
