Laptop Mag reported a $380 discount on a specific Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 9 configuration in May 2025: $1,199 instead of $1,579 with coupon code YOGATECH3, plus a Lenovo Slim Pen and protective sleeve. That report does not establish that the price, coupon, stock, or bundle is still available. Treat the offer as historical unless Lenovo confirms the exact configuration and final checkout price.
What was the reported deal?
Laptop Mag’s deal article, published May 6, 2025 and updated May 8, 2025, listed a 14-inch Yoga 9i Gen 9 for $1,199 after a $380 reduction from $1,579 using code YOGATECH3. It said the package included a Lenovo Slim Pen and protective sleeve. The report also cited a historical Best Buy price of $1,449; neither comparison establishes the laptop’s current market price.
Laptop Mag’s deal report is not evidence of an active 2026 promotion. Current availability, checkout price, coupon validity, seller, fulfillment, condition, shipping, tax, warranty, return window, and restocking terms are not established by that dated article. Check those details on the actual listing and at checkout before buying; confirm that the seller is Lenovo if you intend to buy direct.

Why did Laptop Mag recommend it?
Laptop Mag gave its reviewed Yoga 9i Gen 9 four stars and an Editor’s Choice award, praising its vivid OLED, productivity performance, hinge-integrated speakers, sturdy thin chassis, comfortable keyboard, and flexible laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes. The touchscreen and pen support can suit handwriting, sketching, presentations, and document markup. The review also noted an IR camera, privacy shutter, and fingerprint reader. These are findings about Laptop Mag’s reviewed configuration, not a guarantee that every listed SKU performs identically.

In Laptop Mag’s Geekbench 6 multicore test, its review unit scored 12,455 against the publication’s category average of 10,297. That is an attributed lab result, not a universal score or a prediction for every workload. The deal configuration’s listed Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and integrated graphics are aimed at general productivity, browsing, media, and lighter creative work rather than demanding gaming or GPU-heavy 3D tasks.
The major trade-off: battery life
Battery endurance is the clearest reason to hesitate. Laptop Mag measured 7 hours and 24 minutes in continuous web browsing at 150 nits. The publication’s earlier-generation Yoga 9i lasted 10 hours and 10 minutes under its test methodology. These are controlled test results, not guaranteed runtimes; brightness, refresh rate, screen resolution, applications, and wireless use can change real-world battery life.

- The world’s first full dual-screen, multi-mode laptop
- Two stunning 13.3″ PureSight OLED displays for versatile use
- Powered by 13th Gen Intel Core processors and the Intel Evo platform
- Detachable Bluetooth keyboard, stylus pen & folio stand included
- US MODEL. US warranty. 1TB SSD model
That makes this a more natural fit for desk-based work or days spent near a charger than for someone who needs dependable all-day unplugged use. The OLED panel’s brightness and refresh settings can affect power use, and a glossy screen may be uncomfortable outdoors or in bright rooms.
Do not confuse the sale screen with the review screen
The deal article listed a 2.8K OLED panel at 2,880 × 1,800. Laptop Mag’s review tested a different configuration with a 4K OLED panel at 3,840 × 2,400 and 120Hz. Review display measurements and performance results may not transfer exactly to the historical sale unit. Verify the live SKU and its resolution before relying on any review benchmark or display specification.

Ports and practical limits
Laptop Mag listed two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, one USB-A port, one additional full-function USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack. There is no HDMI port or microSD card slot, so connecting a projector, memory card, or several wired peripherals may require a hub or dock. Laptop Mag’s review also reported 8,468 in 3DMark Fire Strike and 35 frames per second in its Civilization VI test at 1080p; synthetic and game results do not make integrated graphics a substitute for a laptop with a discrete gaming GPU.
The deal configuration was listed with 16GB of memory. Confirm whether that capacity meets your needs before ordering; the available information does not establish upgradeability for the exact sale SKU. If the memory is soldered, it cannot be expanded later.

Who should consider this convertible?
- Consider it if a premium 14-inch touchscreen convertible is specifically what you want, and you will make use of tablet, tent, stand, or pen modes.
- Consider it for office work, browsing, video, multitasking, and light creative tasks where OLED quality, keyboard feel, and speakers matter more than long battery endurance.
- Wait or compare if the current price is not near the reported $1,199, the pen and sleeve are absent, or a newer Yoga 9i generation is similarly priced. The historical $380 reduction alone does not prove strong current value.
Who should skip it?
- Frequent travelers and students who need a full day away from an outlet should prioritize measured battery life.
- Gamers and people doing demanding 3D work should look for a machine with a suitable discrete GPU.
- Buyers who need HDMI, a built-in card reader, or lots of legacy ports should account for the cost and inconvenience of adapters.
- If you will use the computer only as a conventional laptop, a clamshell may offer better value; the convertible hinge and touch display matter most when you use them.
- If you expect a 4K panel, do not assume the 2.8K sale configuration has it.
How to judge the price and compare alternatives
Compare the exact SKU’s current checkout price with recent prices for that same configuration, not just the historical $1,579 reference price. Confirm whether the coupon applies, whether the bundle is automatic, and whether the listing is new rather than refurbished or clearance stock. Taxes, shipping, warranty coverage, accidental-damage protection, and return conditions can change the real cost or risk.
For alternatives, compare a newer Yoga 9i generation if its price is close, or a Yoga 7i 2-in-1 if lowering cost matters more than the 9i’s premium positioning. HP Spectre or Envy x360 and ASUS Zenbook convertibles offer other 2-in-1 options; check exact configurations and independent battery results rather than assuming equivalent screens or endurance. A Surface Pro is a detachable-tablet alternative, while a premium clamshell is worth considering if you do not need 360-degree flexibility. No current alternative prices are established here.
Useful manufacturer starting points include Lenovo’s U.S. store, Dell’s U.S. laptops and 2-in-1 listings, HP’s U.S. laptop store, and ASUS Zenbook models. These are starting points for comparison, not confirmation of the historical Yoga deal.
