That makes the Marinakis family estimate about twice as large, but this is an indicative comparison: the figures come from different list years, not the same valuation date. Neither figure is a personal cash balance or a measure of money available to spend on a football club.
Forbes estimates at a glance

On these published figures, the Marinakis family estimate is twice the Srivaddhanaprabha family estimate. Because the dates differ, that ratio is a useful broad comparison—not a precise same-day ranking of their wealth. Forbes’ Marinakis profile also displays a separate real-time estimate dated September 9, 2026; a moving figure should not be substituted for the dated March estimate without identifying the change in date.
Why these are family fortunes, not personal balances
Both entries explicitly cover a family, not solely the named owner. Forbes’ wealth methodology uses financial and shareholding information; public holdings are valued using share prices and exchange rates, while private businesses are assessed against comparable publicly traded companies. Forbes’ Thailand list methodology also allows fortunes to be shared across extended families. An estimate therefore describes an assessed pool of assets and interests, not cash sitting in one person’s account.
Keep four labels attached to any comparison: the list or publication year, the valuation date, whether the figure is for an individual or a family, and the currency. Here both numbers are in US dollars and both are family estimates, but they are drawn from different list years. Forbes said its Thailand 2026 list used public share prices and exchange rates as of June 18, 2026; that valuation detail does not turn the 2025 Aiyawatt entry into a 2026 estimate.

What the figures do—and do not—say about the clubs
A net worth estimate is not the same as a club’s transfer budget, operating cash, or an owner’s willingness to invest. Wealth may include ownership stakes and private-company interests that cannot be converted into cash at the quoted estimate, and the figures do not disclose how much either owner has committed or could commit to football. The comparison alone cannot establish which club has the larger current budget or spending capacity.

Evangelos Marinakis and Nottingham Forest
Forbes says Marinakis bought 80% of Nottingham Forest in 2017. Its profile identifies shipping and football as sources of his wealth and also notes media interests. The 80% figure describes the acquisition reported by Forbes; it should not be read as a statement about the club’s current ownership split.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha and Leicester City
Aiyawatt is associated with Leicester City and King Power. Forbes reported in 2019 that he succeeded his late father as King Power CEO and shared the family fortune with his mother and three siblings. Forbes’ 2025 list accordingly presents the estimate under “Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha & family.”

For historical context, Forbes put the Srivaddhanaprabha family at $3.6 billion in its Thailand 50 Richest 2024 list, compared with $3.5 billion in the 2025 list. The figures are list estimates, not a precise accounting of a year’s gains or losses. Forbes’ 2026 Thailand coverage reported combined wealth of $187 billion for all 50 people on that list, up 10% year over year; that aggregate is not either owner’s individual fortune.

A secondary finance site has reported $2.4 billion for the Srivaddhanaprabha family as of July 2026, but that amount was not confirmed in the accessible Forbes results. It should not be treated as a verified Forbes figure or combined with the Forbes 2025 estimate as if both shared a method and valuation date. An older BBC Sport profile attributed a £3 billion estimate to Forbes for Marinakis and his family in 2024; the later Forbes profile’s dated 2026 estimate is the more recent primary-source figure for this comparison.
