Uber’s August 5 Q2 release provides the reported results and the company’s definitions of non-GAAP measures.
How should investors read the headline earnings figure?
Uber’s $2.4 billion of Q2 GAAP net income was not solely a measure of recurring ride-hailing and delivery operations. The quarter included a $1.6 billion pre-tax net benefit from revaluations of equity investments, as described in the company’s release and Q2 filing. Investment revaluations can affect reported net income without representing cash generated by the quarter’s core operating activity. Read the net-income result alongside operating income, bookings, trips, and the company’s clearly labeled non-GAAP measures rather than treating the full figure as recurring operating earnings. Uber’s SEC filings include the Q2 10-Q and its accounting context.
What is Uber forecasting for Q3?
In its August 5 release, management gave Q3 2026 outlook of $58.25 billion to $60.25 billion in Gross Bookings and non-GAAP EPS of $0.84 to $0.88. These are forecasts, not Q3 results. The company had not yet reported Q3 by October 8, so actual performance against the outlook was not available at that date. Use the release’s definitions and reconciliation information when reviewing non-GAAP EPS.
What other company developments are relevant?
Uber Investor Relations listed a July 15 announcement of an acquisition offer for Delivery Hero, a September 10 CEO fireside chat hosted by Goldman Sachs, and the August Q2 materials. Recent company announcements also covered Costco delivery on Uber Eats, a Spain operating permit for Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles, and autonomous rides with Wayve in the UK. Uber’s U.S. newsroom listed September updates on driver and courier features, sustainability, ride options for seniors, and autonomous rides in the UK. These are company developments, but the announcements alone do not establish their financial significance or their effect on Uber shares. What can and can’t be concluded about UBER shares?
The company’s operating results and scheduled earnings date provide current business context, but they do not establish a live UBER share price, its latest daily or intraday move, valuation multiples, analyst consensus, or how the market reacted to a particular announcement. Those require separate, current market data; company news by itself is not evidence of a stock-price cause.
Uber says its Class A common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on May 10, 2019. The company says it does not currently offer a direct stock purchase plan, and its Q2 filing says it does not expect to declare or pay cash dividends in the foreseeable future. Investors can find company disclosures and filings through Investor Relations and the SEC filing page.
