Celebrity Net Worth publishes the estimate; no public financial disclosure or audited valuation cited here independently confirms it.
What is Larry Holmes’s net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth currently lists Holmes’s net worth at $18 million. The page does not provide an audited balance sheet or a transparent valuation method, so the figure should be treated as an estimate rather than an exact present-day total. Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate is also repeated in a December 27, 2025 Times of India article, which discusses the combined wealth of Holmes and Diane Holmes; that article is not an independent primary valuation of Larry Holmes alone. Times of India, December 27, 2025.
Net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities. Without current information about property, business interests, investments, taxes, and debt, a public estimate cannot establish Holmes’s exact current financial position.
How did Larry Holmes make his money?
Boxing career and reported purses
Holmes built his public profile and earning power over a long professional boxing career. His official website lists a record of 69 wins, including 44 knockouts, and six losses, and says he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2008. Those details help explain his prominence, but a record does not verify a net-worth estimate. Larry Holmes’s official website.

Celebrity Net Worth reports purses of about $8 million for Holmes’s bout with Muhammad Ali, $2.8 million for his bout with Mike Tyson, and $7 million for his bout with Evander Holyfield. These are figures reported by that secondary source; they were not independently verified against contracts or commission records in the sources cited here. Celebrity Net Worth.
A reported purse is not the same as take-home income or net worth. A purse is gross compensation; career expenses, taxes, and other deductions affect how much reaches a boxer or remains available to build wealth. A historical Penthouse interview with Holmes discussed spending and the people paid from a boxer’s career, but its publication date and amounts are not established in the available citation, so it cannot serve as a current financial accounting. Businesses and assets reported in the 1980s
A Washington Post report published December 15, 1987 quoted Holmes saying he was worth “a lot of money.” It described an $8 million hotel, a $2 million restaurant, a $1.5 million home, and a $5 million office complex then under construction. These are reported historical asset values from that period—not evidence that Holmes still owns those properties, that the values represented his equity, or that they describe his current net worth. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the $18 million figure is uncertain
- It is a published estimate. Celebrity Net Worth supplies the figure, but the cited page does not disclose an audited calculation.
- A repeated estimate is not independent confirmation. The Times of India article repeats an approximate figure and frames it around Holmes and Diane Holmes together.
- Historical asset values are not a current balance sheet. The 1987 report records assets and plans at that time, not present ownership, liabilities, or market value.
- Gross purses do not equal accumulated wealth. Taxes, professional expenses, spending, and investment outcomes all affect what remains.
Accordingly, “about $18 million” is the most defensible shorthand for the online estimate, provided it is attributed to Celebrity Net Worth and not presented as a confirmed current balance.
