China was Russia’s largest goods trading partner in 2025, with €194.236 billion in combined imports and exports, according to the European Commission Directorate-General for Trade. India ranked second, while the EU27 bloc—not a single country—ranked third. The Wikipedia list named in the original title shows 2017 figures, so it is historical rather than a current ranking.
Largest trading partners of Russia in 2025
The European Commission’s 20 May 2026 fact sheet ranks Russia’s 2025 partners by total goods trade, meaning imports plus exports. Its Russia-wide table attributes the figures to the IMF and reports them in millions of euros. Shares are each partner’s share of Russia’s total goods trade.
| Rank | Partner | Total goods trade (€ million) | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | China | 194,236 | 34.2% |
| 2 | India | 61,636 | 10.9% |
| 3 | EU27 | 52,895 | 9.3% |
| 4 | Türkiye | 41,097 | 7.2% |
| 5 | Uzbekistan | 33,983 | 6.0% |
| 6 | Belarus | 27,237 | 4.8% |
| 7 | Hong Kong | 14,003 | 2.5% |
| 8 | South Korea | 10,597 | 1.9% |
| 9 | United Arab Emirates | 9,912 | 1.7% |
| 10 | Brazil | 9,575 | 1.7% |
The ranking includes the EU27 as a regional bloc of 27 member states. It is third among the listed partners, but it is not a country; the country-only ordering therefore differs. The figures cover goods, not services. European Commission Directorate-General for Trade, Russia trade fact sheet.
Russia’s biggest import partners
China was Russia’s largest goods supplier in the Commission’s 2025 table: imports from China were €98,451 million, or 49.5% of Russia’s goods imports. India ranked sixth among import partners, with €5,348 million, or 2.7%. These are import-side figures, not the combined-trade ranking.
#1 Best Overall
Russia’s total goods imports in the table were €198,757 million in 2025. The source reports the partner values and shares in euros and percentages, respectively. European Commission Directorate-General for Trade, Russia trade fact sheet.
Russia’s biggest export partners
China was also Russia’s largest goods export destination in 2025, receiving €95,785 million in exports, equal to 26.0% of Russia’s goods exports. India ranked second for exports at €56,288 million, or 15.3%. Thus, India’s second-place position in total trade reflects a much stronger export relationship than import relationship in this table.
Rank #2
Russia’s total goods exports were €368,952 million in 2025. The Commission table’s total trade figure is €567,709 million, the sum of those imports and exports. European Commission Directorate-General for Trade, Russia trade fact sheet.
Why the Wikipedia list is not a current ranking
The Wikipedia page titled “List of the largest trading partners of Russia” says its list is based on Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC) data, but its visible exports and imports tables are for 2017. In those historical tables, China led both exports, at US$39.1 billion, and imports, at US$43.8 billion. The page also carries a notice that it needs updating. Those figures should not be presented as current. Wikipedia, List of the largest trading partners of Russia.

How to interpret the rankings and dates
- Combined trade, imports, and exports answer different questions. Combined trade measures total two-way goods flows; an import ranking identifies suppliers, while an export ranking identifies destination markets.
- Keep the geographic unit clear. The EU27 is an aggregate, so it should be distinguished from individual countries when comparing partners.
- Keep the year, currency, and scope attached to each number. The Commission’s partner ranking is for 2025 goods trade in euros. It is not a services ranking.
- Different datasets can produce different rankings. Partner-reported mirror data, reporting and valuation practices, currencies, product coverage, and revisions can affect comparisons. The Commission’s Russia-wide table attributes its figures to the IMF; a separate EU-to-Russia section in the same fact sheet uses Eurostat Comext.
For context, UNCTAD reports Russia’s 2024 merchandise exports at US$433.092 billion, imports at US$300.124 billion, and merchandise trade balance at US$132.968 billion. These are aggregate merchandise totals in US dollars, not partner rankings, and they are for a different year and currency from the Commission’s 2025 table. UN Comtrade describes its database as providing annual and monthly trade statistics by product and partner, with data updated as official information becomes available.
