How the $1 Lands’ End tote offer worked
As Fast Company reported on August 13, 2024, the promotion required customers to trade in a canvas tote from any brand. In return, Lands’ End offered two Canvas Pocket Totes—one medium and one large—for $1 total. Fast Company described the pair as having a stated value of $80.
The $1 was the promotional price for the pair under the trade-in offer, not the ordinary price of one tote. Lands’ End had set aside a limited, unspecified quantity, and the offer was to run until that inventory sold out.
Is the offer still available?
No. In a follow-up dated August 14, 2024, Fast Company reported that a Lands’ End spokesperson said each day’s stock had been claimed within minutes. The article identified August 15, 2024, as the final opportunity. The promotion has ended; the reporting does not establish a current $1 offer.

What to compare if you’re shopping for a tote now
The promotion is over, but Lands’ End continues to offer tote styles in at least some markets. Its UK tote category lists options including medium open-top, medium zip-top, large and extra-large canvas totes. That is a UK-specific assortment, and products or prices may differ elsewhere or change over time.

- Handles and personalization: Check the listed handle details and available personalization options for the exact model rather than assuming they are the same across the range.
- Price and region: Confirm the current price and delivery terms for your country. A past promotion or a price shown in another market does not establish what you’ll pay now.
A July 20, 2026 NBC Select shopping article named the Medium 5-Pocket Open-Top Canvas Tote Bag and described five pockets, including a secure pocket, plus a built-in key strap. It showed $23.95 against a regular price of $39.95 at the time of publication. Those are dated prices, not confirmation of today’s price or availability, and the article is not an independent comparative test across tote brands.

Fast Company’s 2024 report framed pockets as Lands’ End’s point of difference. Matt Trainor, then the company’s senior vice president of brand and creative, said, “We brought similar design thinking to our totes.” That helps explain the product’s positioning, but it does not establish that every tote in the current assortment has the same pocket arrangement.
