LAAM announced a $5.5 million seed round on December 12, 2024, to grow its South Asian fashion marketplace and invest in international expansion, product discovery, logistics and seller services. Disrupt.com and Zayn VC led the round. The UAE and a possible later US presence were plans reported at the time—not confirmed current operations.
What did LAAM raise, and who invested?
LAAM Technologies announced the $5.5 million seed round in December 2024. The company’s announcement named Disrupt.com and Zayn VC as leads, with Graph Ventures, Mentors Fund and technology leaders from Oracle, Microsoft, Google and Salesforce among the participants. TechCrunch described the financing as all-equity. The reviewed coverage did not disclose a valuation or the amount of ownership sold.
The round was announced against a difficult backdrop for Pakistani startups. TechCrunch, citing Tracxn data shared with the publication, reported that funding for Pakistani startups had fallen 65% year over year to $12.3 million in 2024 year to date, from $35 million in 2023. That is ecosystem context, not a measure of LAAM’s performance.
What does LAAM do?
Founded in Lahore in January 2021, LAAM is a technology-enabled marketplace for South Asian fashion. TechCrunch’s 2024 coverage described it as connecting Pakistani sellers with customers in Pakistan and abroad, with apparel, footwear and accessories among its offerings. LAAM’s current About page describes its role as helping shoppers discover South Asian brands while providing brands with marketing, intelligence, sales and supply-chain services.

The consumer marketplace is one part of the business. LAAM also operates Octane, which it describes as commerce infrastructure for sellers, including supply-chain solutions, business-management software and warehousing. LAAM’s December 2024 announcement said Octane supported more than 50 businesses at that time; that figure should not be read as a current total.
What was the funding meant to support?
LAAM said it would use the capital to expand internationally and improve discovery, logistics and support for sellers. The company also highlighted making South Asian artisans more visible and developing AI-driven product discovery. TechCrunch reported that LAAM intended to onboard sellers from other South Asian regions, establish a UAE office and look toward a US presence afterward.
Those plans describe the company’s stated direction in 2024. The reviewed sources do not confirm whether the UAE office opened, whether a US presence followed, or how far the broader expansion has progressed. LAAM’s current About page presents the company’s marketplace and services, but does not establish completion of those specific office plans.
What do the published figures say about LAAM’s scale?
The available figures come from different sources and dates, and they measure different things. They are best read as dated snapshots, not as one directly comparable growth series.

| Figure | Source and date | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Sales in more than 100 countries | LAAM announcement and TechCrunch reporting, December 2024 | Geographic reach reported at the time |
| More than 100,000 catalog items and close to 1,200 sellers | TechCrunch, December 2024 | Catalog and seller counts reported at the time |
| About 500,000 total customers, including more than 300,000 in Pakistan | TechCrunch, December 2024 | Customer figures reported at the time |
| More than 100 brands, 65,000+ unique products and more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs | LAAM About page, accessed October 8, 2026 | Figures displayed on LAAM’s current first-party page |
The counts are not directly interchangeable: “catalog items” and “unique products” may describe different measures, and the sources use different dates. The later About-page figures therefore do not, by themselves, establish that LAAM’s catalog or seller base shrank.
How should LAAM’s market opportunity be understood?
In its December 2024 announcement, LAAM cited projections of $129 billion in global South Asian ethnic-wear revenue by 2030, including nearly $46 billion in digital spending. The release did not identify the underlying study or methodology, so these are company-cited projections rather than independently verified market estimates.
Rank #4
The business opportunity LAAM describes combines a cross-border consumer marketplace with services for brands and sellers. Its announcement emphasized discovery and logistics as growth priorities, while Octane represents the seller-infrastructure side of the business. The funding announcement and reporting establish those ambitions, but do not provide comparable data on market share, sales growth, conversion, profitability or service quality.

TechCrunch’s 2024 report named SanaullaStore, Bagallery and Clicky as local marketplace or platform examples, and ETHNC and Sapphire as retail brands selling through their own sites. It also mentioned Temu and Daraz in the wider Pakistan e-commerce environment. These are examples from that reporting, not a verified current competitor list or a ranking.

The useful distinction is between a multi-brand marketplace such as LAAM, which aggregates products from sellers, and a retailer selling its own brand directly. LAAM’s additional seller services and fulfillment support are another point of differentiation in its stated model. The available sources do not support a ranking by price, market share or customer experience.
What’s next for LAAM?
The clearest next steps announced in 2024 were global seller and customer expansion, improved product discovery, and stronger logistics and seller infrastructure. The UAE office and possible US presence were part of that historical plan, but public information reviewed here does not establish whether either occurred. For customers, LAAM’s current pages show an active South Asian fashion marketplace; for brands, the company positions itself as both a route to shoppers and a provider of commerce support.
LAAM’s CEO, Arif Iqbal, framed the ambition as bringing “the best of South Asian fashion to the world.” That is the company’s strategic vision; the $5.5 million financing provides announced backing for it, not proof that the expansion targets have already been achieved.
