What Krafton announced
At an internal KRAFTON LIVE TALK, CEO Changhan Kim presented a mid- to long-term roadmap to make AI central to the company’s technology, organization and culture. The company said it would apply AI across management and decision-making and center work automation on agentic AI—systems designed to carry out tasks toward a goal.
Kim described the intended division of labor this way: “Starting today, KRAFTON will automate work centered on agentic AI, and employees will focus on creative activities and solving complex problems as we fully implement an AI-centered management system.” This quotation was reported in English by CHOSUNBIZ; the report notes that its English article was AI-translated.
Krafton’s stated rationale is that automation will free employees to focus on creative work and complex problems. That is the company’s goal, not evidence that productivity has increased or that employees’ work has in fact shifted as planned.

Investment targets and what is known about delivery
Krafton announced two headline funding figures and a platform target. They were plans at the time of the October 2025 announcement, not confirmation that the spending or infrastructure was completed.

The figures and targets were reported by CHOSUNBIZ and The Asia Business Daily on October 23, 2025. Because the target date for the platform has passed, it is especially important not to treat the target as a confirmed delivery. The available later accounts do not resolve whether it was met.

Does the HR overhaul mean automated hiring or firing?
No such conclusion follows from the announcement. Krafton said it would overhaul its human resources (HR) system and operating framework, introduce new systems and programs, and realign existing policies around AI. It also named an internal AI Learning Hub, AI Roundtable and AI Hackathon as ways to encourage employee learning and use of AI.
Those plans support describing the change as an AI-focused HR and organizational overhaul. The sources do not say that AI will make employment decisions such as whom to hire, how to rate an employee, or whom to terminate. An AI-centered management system is not, on its own, proof of automated personnel decisions.

Workforce developments reported after the announcement
On November 13, 2025, PC Gamer reported that Krafton had launched a voluntary resignation program for domestic employees and had frozen hiring company-wide except for original-IP development and AI-related roles. The report attributed the hiring-freeze description to CFO Bae Dong-geun. It also relayed, through Business Korea, a Krafton representative’s statement that the resignation program was not a workforce-reduction measure, but was intended to help employees decide whether to continue with the company amid AI transformation.
These reports provide relevant workforce context, but they do not establish that Krafton’s AI strategy caused specific departures or job losses. The program was described as voluntary, and the company disputed that it was a reduction plan; those attributions matter when interpreting the announcement.

What later disclosures and hiring show
Corporate filing
Krafton’s 2025 corporate disclosure, published April 28, 2026, reported 3,061 full-time employees as of December 31, 2025. That figure is for the reporting group and date in the filing; it should not be treated as a current headcount or compared casually with figures using a different scope. The filing also describes HR transformation, structural optimization, talent benchmarking and task-centric management. It does not, in the information summarized here, verify automated employment decisions.
AI transformation engineer recruitment
In March 2026, Seoul Economic Daily reported that Krafton was recruiting AI transformation engineers to identify tasks suitable for automation and develop solutions alongside employees in different divisions. The report described pilot hiring on three-month contracts, extendable based on performance. This indicates implementation activity, but it does not establish that the company-wide platform announced in 2025 was complete.

Company’s stated creative rationale
A later Krafton Japan strategy release framed workflow automation as a way to reinvest resources in creative game development and said physical AI and robotics were under consideration for future applications. These are statements of direction and possible future plans, not evidence that those applications have been deployed or that the strategy has produced the intended results. In a February 2026 PC Gamer report, Chief AI Officer Kangwook Lee said Krafton uses AI “as a tool to amplify human imagination and creativity, not replace it.” That is the company’s position, not an independent finding about workforce effects.

- Company-wide strategy: Krafton presented the transition as an organizational roadmap, not simply a feature for a game.
- Planned investment: The GPU cluster, employee-tool budget and platform deadline were announced targets; later sources cited here do not confirm full delivery.
