Koodo reportedly replaced its $40/20GB and $45/60GB postpaid bring-your-own-device options with one $40/60GB 5G plan on April 15, 2026. That was 40GB more than the former $40 plan and $5 less than the previous 60GB tier. A July price-change report later listed a comparable Koodo plan at $45/20GB, so the April offer should not be treated as the confirmed price on August 18. Check Koodo’s live checkout or Self Serve before changing service.
What changed in Koodo’s April 2026 refresh?
The change was a plan replacement, not an automatic data bonus for every subscriber. MobileSyrup reported that Koodo removed the $40/20GB tier and repriced its 60GB option from $45 to $40 for postpaid BYOD customers.

The April report also described $50/80GB Canada-US-Mexico and $55/100GB Canada-wide tiers. Those figures were reported at the time and should not be assumed to be current.

Is the $40/60GB plan still available?
There is a documented conflict. A July 7 report said Koodo had applied $5 increases and listed an entry plan at $45/20GB after automatic-payment discounts. Koodo’s public pages describe its plan families but do not independently confirm that the April $40/60GB price remains available nationwide.

Before ordering, open Koodo’s BYOD page or the rate-plan page, and verify:
- The displayed monthly price and data allowance.
- Whether the price depends on automatic payments.
- Whether the offer is Canada-only and available in your province.
- Whether it is public, BYOD-only, new-customer-only or targeted to selected accounts.
- Activation, SIM or eSIM charges shown at checkout.
- Taxes, device payments and add-ons that will raise the final bill.

What the reported plan includes
Koodo’s eligible mobility plans generally combine 5G access, unlimited Canada-wide calling, unlimited international SMS and one selectable Pick Your Perk feature. Koodo also advertises Shock-Free Data protections against unexpected data overage charges. The exact perks attached to a particular offer can change, so confirm them on the plan screen rather than assuming every customer receives every option.

The reported offer is a postpaid BYOD plan: you bring a compatible phone and do not add a handset payment. Koodo supports eSIM activation on compatible devices. Customers who want to finance a phone use the separate Tab system, generally spread over 24 monthly payments.
What it does not include automatically
Canada-US-Mexico roaming
Do not interpret 60GB as North American data. The reported $40/60GB option was described as a Canada-wide plan. U.S. or Mexico use requires a different plan or roaming feature.

A 3-Day Easy Roam perk covers three roaming days per billing cycle; unused days do not carry forward, and regular Easy Roam charges can apply after the included days. It is not unlimited international roaming. Check the conditions at Koodo’s perk page.
Guaranteed 1Gbps performance
“5G” does not guarantee a particular real-world speed. Koodo says performance depends on a compatible device and software, 5G coverage, the plan’s speed tier, network congestion and other conditions. Koodo announced that eligible Pick Your Perk customers would be migrated to speeds of up to 1Gbps at no extra cost, while some starter or legacy plans may remain on lower tiers. Many customers can review available Pick Your Perk plans in Self Serve, but eligibility is account-specific. An outstanding Tab or Tab Bonus balance may need to be paid before moving to a plan that is not eligible for the current Tab level. A grandfathered discount can also disappear when you change plans.

- Choose Mobile services.
- Open Manage plans and add-ons, if shown.
- Under My add-ons, select Manage perks.
- Review the displayed price, data, perk, effective date and any Tab-balance requirement before confirming.
Changing both a rate plan and perk may take effect immediately. Changing only the perk generally takes effect at the next billing cycle. Another Koodo customer may see different offers because plans can be targeted or account-specific. Koodo explains the process at its Self Serve help page.

Light users
If you normally use under about 10GB a month, a smaller or prepaid plan may cost less. Rollover Data, when offered, can help if your usage varies widely.
Moderate users
People using roughly 20–60GB—especially commuters who stream away from Wi-Fi—may value the headroom. Check your last three bills rather than choosing by headline allowance alone.

Heavy users
Frequent video streaming, cloud backups, hotspot use and large app updates can consume data quickly. A 60GB plan is more useful for this group, but hotspot rules, speed limits and coverage still matter.
How Koodo compares with alternatives
Comparison should focus on the features that change your bill and usage, not an unverified historical price.

Freedom Mobile has been highlighted for aggressive Canada-US-Mexico value, while Public Mobile can suit price-sensitive customers comfortable with self-service. Those are comparison categories, not guaranteed current prices; verify each carrier’s checkout page for your province.
Who should consider switching?
- Good fit: A BYOD customer who primarily uses service in Canada, needs roughly 20–60GB, values TELUS-network coverage and confirms the $40 price.
- Poor fit: Someone using little data, travelling frequently in the U.S. or Mexico, relying on a favourable grandfathered plan, carrying a Tab balance or seeking the lowest prepaid commitment.
Verdict
The April 15, 2026 change was a substantial improvement on paper: 60GB for the former $40 price, instead of 20GB. But the later July pricing report means that figure is not a confirmed August price. Switch only after Koodo shows the current monthly charge, data, perk, roaming terms, autopay condition and one-time fees for your account. If the $40/60GB offer is still presented, it is compelling for Canada-focused BYOD users; otherwise, compare the revised price with smaller plans and carriers that include North American roaming.
